In this recession - 70% of the people who have lost their jobs are male ... I was wondering how the ladies here would feel about dating a man who is unemployed - perhaps has been for several months - thumps up thumbs up or thumbs down thumbs down ....? And for the men...if you are unemployed - would you keep pursuing dates - what would you do to spend less on a date - would you consider letting the woman pay for the day? or would you get creative and look for free/cheap things to do?

Most who are unemployed are collecting unemployment, in the US, while they search for another job, so it would not bother me as long as he can pay his portion of the bills and his prior commitments if the dating turned into a relationship.

If he can not go at least Dutch Treat on a date, then no I would not be interested. Not interested in paying his way, if I was dating.......

I can't imagine many people wanting to get involved with a man who can not provide the basic means to woo and enjoy fun times at the very least with a new partner?
But it reminds me to get out of the office and help out!!

Does being a lazy ass at work matter?
dunno

Can't answer thumb up or down. It's reality and life is continuing all the same...

For me the main point would be how this man manages the situation. Whether he see it as opportunity or defeat and how he copes with this grief.

Though I haven't confidence dating will be the priority for unemployed man. I have such an experience in the real life. blues
I agree with PB - it doesn't make him less of a man to be unemployed. I would most definitely date a man who is between jobs and do my part to come up with some creative ways to enjoy his company with/without spending money.

Now that I am out of work - waiting for the next contract - I have time for dating.

During the boom, there was little time to find a partner.

So yes, I keep on looking, but not on this website. thumbs up

Not a yes/no question.

It depends on a person and situation.

I agree with Laura that it depends on the person and why they lost their job. But in all truth, if he or she loses their job I don't think it's the time to be looking for someone to get involved with. If they were just looking for sex, that's another story, but it they want a longterm relationship, I don't think it's smart to look for a partner when you're out of work.

Perhaps this answers the question from yesterday...which comes first. Wisdom or knowledge.
