40th anniversary of lunar landing

A small step for an astronaut became a great leap for mankind on July 20, 1969.

Dig into your memory and share your images and thoughts of what you felt when you saw the module land on the moon.

Did you doodle and dream about going into space when you were a kid?

What is the significance of going to the moon and should we do it again.

Where were you when Neil Armstrong stepped on the moon?

I had set my alarm clock so I could get up at 4:00 a.m. to watch it. I was 40 years old at the time and really didn't appreciate what was happening.

I'm still curious if the flag is still there.

I was to young to know what was happening, though if I did I would think same as I do now....what a waste of money that could be doing so much more.

What were you saying earlier about dementia Snuggs ... rolling on the floor laughing

I was 9 at the time, don't really remember much except getting a big telling off from my father for disturbing him while watching it on TV.
I was nearly kicked into orbit also....grin

I definitely have dementia......I try to forget that I'm at work but the crap keeps piling on my desk.

Do you think your father was right to put so much importance on watching the moon landing vs. paying attention to you?

I was only 5, so I really don't remember it from when it happened, just from later showings of the footage.

Oh yes, it was such an important event, but not to me at that time.

I exaggerate about my Dad, he was a wonderful and gentle man, he never hit me once. But of course I was such a little angel wasn't I. grin

So you would have been 27 then Snuggs, and you say you didn't appreciate it really ? Were you a married woman at that time Snuggs, and a mum ?

I'm still curious if the flag is still there.

As far as I am aware it is. Who would have gone up there to steel it ? grin laugh

nope saw it and marked down as witnessing history, just like 9-11 or the bombing at the olympics

Too young to realise what was going on

I can only remember the potty landing rolling on the floor laughing

Yes, I was 27 and a mother of a 4 year old little girl and had just separated from my husband.

Truth is, I didn't watch it because it was a history making event. I watched it because of all the press about it.

When I was young, I had no interest at all in anything but raising my daughter and dating. I never watched the news or read the newspaper. I didn't even watch news on the TV.

I said I wondered if the flag was still there because I thought it may have fallen down and blown away but that was stupid of me doh because there isn't any wind on the moon.

I watched it and didn't believe it. Thought it looked fake. Wondered what all the fuss was about. Bunch of men jumping about and raising dust.laugh
