.....Well,this could be a surprise to you I have been to some of those Countries in Africa that you talk about,so I know exactly what you are taking about,and I am not that 'blind' to know whats going on ....Also when I lived in Amsterdam for eight years I did quite a bit voluntary work for a Dutch Government agenda to help to get those poor Ladies who ran away from those types of situations,into The Netherlands as refugees ....and to be quite frank here those called 'customs' are foul and disgusting,and in my humble opinion its a basic form of Legal 'Slavery',nothing more,nothing less and its Foul and morally corrupt....

I live in Canada and i am divorced and in my province all marital assets are split 50/50 it's the law. and if you own something before marriage like property you do not split the original value, only the increase in value while you were married. We women to not get everything.... as a matter of fact I got the beater and the kid..he told the new car, he was such a gentleman.

As I am finishing A divorce after 19 years I cant say I wouldnt marry again but it would have to be something really special for me to do it again. Look at Gene Simmions and Shannon Tweed they've been together like 20 yrs or better have 2 wonderful grown kids and they never married.

I guess marriage is imporatant if you really love each other . It bring a commitment and purpose to the relationship .gives a strong and secured feeling for the kids , take the love to a level beyond the releam of an affair . but I fail to understand marriage in west . The concept is very different there .I think in west its just another ceremony ,nobody gives any value to it .People try this after everything else fail and fail in the marriage too.

I think you paint all westerners with one brush and this is a false picture. Hollywood movies do not represent the common citizens. Many Born again Christians very much value the santitity of marriage and monogamy.

I think marriage and other unions fail because we live in a selfish time , the me generation. People take their self centred thinking with them everywhere even to the marriage bed.

Marriage is important to me, I've only been married once, and it was a short marrige, and not a ugly divorce at all. I felt comfortable and proud to wear a wedding ring. As for the divorce, we both owned homes and everything, both had retirement funds, but, we also both had pre-nup agreements. She was a Director at the local college and made more money than me, but...money was never a issue for us,...Yes, I would get married ONE more time

.....What a 'Crook of crap'....You mean to tell me you condone a 12 year old Girl into a force marriage.....do you????....Well to me thats nothing, but 'Slavery'....I have actually met some of those 12 to 13 year 'Girls' from those forced marriage from India...from Pakistani..and Africa.....and they are scarred for Life...some of the stories of abuse they told me....made me weep,and shake with pure anger .....and I won't mince my words I would gladly send those so called 'Husbands'..Total Scumbags in my eyes, to the next World and have a nice dinner afterward's and a good night sleep knowing I have done the World a big favor.......Those types of Marriages to me are 'Foul'...

......Fair call...and you are correct....as for your Gentleman statement.....hes not a Gentleman......When my marriage fell apart I left with nothing...just my clothes and a beater of the car....she got the house,furniture basically everything....

I was married for 22 wonderful years. I would have wanted more but my husband unfortunatly passed away in 2007 at age 53, I would like to be married again if I found the right person. Marriage is as good or bad as you make it. And I loved waking up next to him everymorning and would give any thing to do it again.

Waking up to the same person for the rest of my life sounds like a WIN to me....its way better than waking up to a pillow.
