Whoa! Coffee shops are hard work! My brother owned one. Be careful what you wish for!!! We had to get up at 4 AM. I found myself doing things like climbing on a ladder to clean stuff off the ceiling and spending my own money on plastic bins to organize the kitchen junk so it wsas not all overthe place. We had all these plans to fix up the place and everything was impossible because of codes or money. The employees walked all over my mom and me until I made my brother fire them. Then, we had to do everything. We were always having screaming fights. My brother went broke. (He has money again now.) The local cops kept ticketing us for parking there. My brother complained. The cop went psycho on us and tried to ticket us every day until my brother found a way to blackmail the village into giving us parking spaces. (That was hilarious.) We found out the Village planned to end the lease with our franchise office leaving us in the position of having to get a new place to operate. We tried to sell the franchize and nobody would buy it. We finally walked away with nothing but horriffic memories.
My brother told me that I would run the place while he sent money for upgrades from his job in a foriegn country. His job fell through. He put my mom in charge. I was the only one who got the training from the chain. My mom had NO management skills. the employees were trying to get rid of us so they could keep their jobs. They tried it by sending us to different stores for more supplies every night and by freaking out every time we tried to touch anything in the store and by refusing to tell us how to order supplies, etc. I bought a file cabinet and an office chair and all kinds of stuff like that because my brother said I would be in charge. When he started working there, he refused to use the file cabinet and mixed all the files up and stuffed them in a box. Insane crap like that for no reason at all.
