was held Sunday with four runners gored, two seriously. Should we pity those injured? One was fatally gored to death two days ago. Should we feel sorry for him and his death?
Personally I shout "Viva El Toro"! and that's no bull on my opinion.........

I think Capuchino should get the best treatment for his efforts...I think he should get all the oats he can eat and as many cows as he can ram...good bull DNA there, I would say...

I am glad you started this as I have been thinking about this for a couple of days. I have two differing feelings, The first which is natural that I do feel for those gored & the family of the runner who died as you never wand to or wish to see anyone hurt or kiled. But I also have looked at this in the view that it has been run now for such a very long time and receives so much coverage that the runners who go there know only full well that there is a very high chance thatnot only could they be seriously or fatally wounded by the bulls but also the crowd which runs in such a confined space. So My feelings are no I guess I dont feel sorry for th runners but more so for their immediate families

We all have choices in life S.V. Some make good ones, others don't use the brains they were born with,or are too fueled with alcohol to make any kind of sense!

Here in Spain the Fiesta National is slowly becoming unpopular in many Provinces, so with the end of bullfighting we may see the end of this "fiesta" It is looked upon as cultural rather than a "sport" nowadays.I for one will be delighted to see it forbidden.J.M.O.

I understand it is a 100 year old tradition but.......couldn't the men just run down the street in their drunken stupors with a horde of donkeys running after them? Then they could call it the "Running of the Jackasses"........

well, from experience it was mostly tourists, although i have seen a couple trying to share their beverages with a bull or two....

curiously the bull seemed to take offense and wouldnt show as much interest in the drink as opposed to the offerer's groin or back side !!!!!

dunno

rolling on the floor laughing Love it.
But, sadly, it's a flawed idea, SV. Jackass runs happen worldwide every Friday and Saturday night, if I'm not mistaken. And in Cancun during spring break...and on St. Patrick's Day in many cities, and Mardi Gras in many cities, and Cinco de Mayo, etc., etc. Pamplona wouldn't have its exclusivity.
I do agree with what you are saying, however.
I read that Capuchino (did I spell it right) was scheduled to be in the bullring later that day to meet his gruesome fate. Not sure if that was true, but regardless...bullfighting, cockfighting, dogfighting, etc....these despicable methods of "entertainment" need to be abolished!

No disrespect, but it is those who have come into Spain who are destroying the indigenous culture, that you dislike bull fighting is your right, but to tell your host country that they must stop is to my way of thinking wrong. I know YOU are not telling them to stop, but there are many of your countrymen who have the same thoughts and have voiced them loudly.
If you don't like bull fights don't attend them, if you’re so against the life style of Spain, move to another country.

i disagree with you Typomatic:

i think it is my civil duty to go to Italy and tell italians that pasta is unhealthy and they must immediately stop eating or making it.... i hate pasta myself

i also think that those old buildings in Greece, you know the ones that have been there for centuries? are nothing than ruins and an eye sore and thus should be demolished.... dont like ruins that much anyways

i also hate tea, and any English accent different that the american one, so the brits, aussies and.... well... everyone for that matter (outside the US) who cant speak with our "proper" accent should just stop speaking English altogether !!!

someone stop me.....i could go on an on !!!!!

With respect I have NEVER told anyone what they should or should not do or how to conduct their lives. This is a Spanish decision and is in a lot of the newspapers here. There is legislation being passed by Parliament to abolish any form of fiesta that results in an animal's death. As with most countries the Spanish are more interested in Football which far surpasses "Bullfighting "in popularity and has absolutely nothing to do with foriegn influence.

Personally I love living in a country where there is so much personal freedom... but with that comes personal responsibility. Had something like that occured in the U.S., the lawsuits would have been piling up and everyone would have been trying to ban the activity. Here you make your choices and you live with the consequences...

I´m quite happy to pay the consequences in order to have the freedom to make my own choices.

So in regard to the running of the bulls... of course I feel bad for the people that got injured... along with how many people who were killed or injured on the highways...
