I am at the early stages of preparing my Euro-Trip. I decided on going with an established operator call Pullmanturs from Spain. I'll start here in Panama and my chosen tour is:Madrid-Burgos-Burdeos-Loire Valley(?)-Rouen-Calais/Dover-London-Folkestone-Paris-Bruges(Belgium)-Amsterdam-Cologne-Cruise on the Rhin-Frankfurt-Berlin-Prague-Budapest-Vienna-Klagenfurt-Venice-Padua-Florence()-Assissi-Rome<Napoli,Capri,Pompeii)-Pisa-Nice-Barcelona-Zaragoza and back to Madrid.

I think it covers pretty much everything. The whole trip lasts 32 days. A very long time to be on the road living out of one suitcase. I'll probably be going solo, or maybe my sister will want to join me, but so far I'm planning for one.

There are different prices for different seasons, and what they call mid-season is the most accomodating for me, in terms of weather. I don't want to go to Europe during summer, because I really want to experience a different climate, but I don't want to go either in the dead of winter cold

Can someone tell me when's Autumn in Europe? and if this is a good time to visit? I'm sure Spring would be loaded with tourists, I'm trying to avoid crowds as much as I can.

I would really like to visit Scotland, but is not included in the tour, any suggestions? I have a +/-36 hrs window when in London...

What da ya think? I'm planning on announcing this trip when I have all the bits and piecs put together, to see if I can meet any CSrs along the way.

At least the CS members in Spain and UK dunno

And poor old Dublin doesn't get the nodlaugh

Anyway I reckon between now and end of october would be a good time weather wise as the winter approaches.

It is the start of autumn now here in Europe, much cooler than the summer, so site seeing around cities is not so hard going.Florence is a sweat hole in peak summer.

When you get to London, you could get a flight from there to Edinburgh and back, but to be honest, to see Scotland you need more than a day in one city, especially one a lovely as Edinburgh. Plus the Cairngorms are just wonderful.

When you get to Pisa, give me a shout, happy to act as guide and I speak English, most of the tour guides don't only Italian.

I guess it depends on what you want to see in Scotland
With such a limited amount of time to spare its unlikely
you would have enough time to get up into the highlands,
but Edinburgh or Glasgow could be managed within that time
slot. Also, train travel in the uk is the most expensive in
Europe, sometimes its cheaper to fly.

I'm thinking that I will have to make more than 1 trip to Europe...looking at te pullmanturs circuits, there are so many places I want to go...I don't want to live anything out.

Would you be able to go to Madrid on a short trip, if I let you know with enough time in advance? I'll have like 3 days in Madrid, and the off to UK, then back to Paris and so on...

Riz is right really. You would need more time. I live 45 miles from the Scottish border. If you can get here (depending when it is) I can take you into Scotland and even into the highlands but can't you get anymore time?

Dublin and Scotland will have to wait for trip No. 2 then...or maybe I can extend the trip for an additional week so I can go for 3 days to Scotland (is that enough) and 3 days to Ireland (hope is enough) and then back to London and back to Panama.

Sounds great onlu Autumn is not really good in europe, if I were you I would take spring, first of all its pretty bad weather in Europe in autumn, spring brings warmer temps, more sun hours and you can still get some snow spots too.

Many tourist places close down in the Autumn, where in spring it all starts up again, and most rainy seasons have past, now is the time where weather gets bad to down depressing...And i will be in Austria in spring, so a bed is always there.

I want to the standing stones...and some medieval castles everything you guys have to offer.

I'm thinking about extending the trip for an extra week in order to visit Scotland and Ireland. It would be so much fun if I can go with you into the highlands! Oh yes!!!!

Spring it is then...is just going to cost me more...as it is, I'm looking at $6,000 worth of airfare and the tour...well it does include hotel accomodations (where? who knows!)and the transportation...any additional tours would have to come from my pocket and I have to travel lightly, because I'm allowed only one suitcase dunno pretty hard to be a girl and having to live out of a suitcase for a month huh?

This trip is going to be grueling...but I don't have any other options...is not like I can afford to travel to Europe every year, so I'll have to make the best of this opportunity. And it is going to be almost 40 days away from my home and my kids...that's a very long time...by the time I get back, I'll need to more weeks to recover from all teh fun! laugh

It sounds like a wonderful trip. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time; just realise you can't do everything and quality can beat quantity.

I hope you get to meet a few CS'ers on your way too. I tend to agree that autumn in most of Europe tends to wet and miserable while Spring can be crisp and sunny though also a lot colder........... mind you in the UK you are guaranteed rain in EVERY season!

You're so positive I feel excited for you¬! wine

I've never been to Scotland, but wish to go before I die. I hear it's a beautiful country only spoilt by the heathen people domiciled there! laugh

Yeah...just a tip, if you get some real hiking clothes they are light weight and easy to wash, dry quick, good walking boots and keep your warderope esay and casual...dont worry.you will manage..and dont take a suitcase but a backpack, works better and you can get a hell more in it...and get all the free toilet stuff at the hotels, instead of hallen bottels of shampoo around....most drug stores in europe have special small quanties of regualar stuff like Dove, toothpast stuff...thrust me, done it so many times, and then with a tent as well...

good luck, any questions just ask..bouquet

I haven't...and that's one of the main reasons I'm going...to get carried away with kilt wearing highlanders...

I have a vivid imagination...and if yo have ever read Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" <google it, and check the images wink 'll know what I mean...
