Subject: HR 615

On Tuesday, the Senate Health Committee voted 12-11 in favor of a two-page amendment, courtesy of Republican Tom Coburn which would require all Members of Congress and their staff members to enroll in any new government-run health plan.

Congressman John Fleming has proposed an amendment that would require Congressmen and Senators to take the same health care plan that they would force on us. (Under proposed legislation they are exempt.)

Congressman Fleming is encouraging people to go to his Website and sign his petition. The process is very simple. I have done just that at: http://fleming.house.gov/index.html .

Senator Coburn and Congressman Fleming are both physicians. Regardless of your political beliefs, it sure seems reasonable that Congress should have exactly the same medical coverage that they impose on the rest of us.

Please urge as many people as you can to do the same!

I see nothing wrong with this concept. There is no law that says that anybody can't buy supplimental health insurance if they have the finances to do so which would include all members of congress and anybody who makes decent money.

I think they should have the same as what they want to give us.
Then they would vote IN the Public Option in case they want a different plan. They really need to give us the best plan available so we should not have need of a different plan!!!frustrated

I myself do not use medical programs. They neither acknowledge my Holistic Doctors, their practices or the Herbal formulas I take. I would like the option to OPT OUT!!!

I should NOT be forced to have an insurance plan if I DO NOT WANT ONE!!!!!

Surely they cannot force people to do this? If so, then I see it as a way of the government trying to weedle money out of people and for what purpose. What if you cannot afford this Insurance plan?

wave Very good response!

I believe our tax dollars will pay for the insurance the government will provide us for "free"??

But the truth of the matter is that taxes will be RAISED
to support this plan, even though the Senate is only accepting amendments which have ZERO cost!dunno

I have been watching them battle it out on CSPAN.
They have rushed it thru for NO apparent reason.
It is not to go into effect until 2014.

Question is... what if you can not afford the TAXES???

Hey girl! Congratulations!! grin Your fella seems nice. I am happy for you!

Thanks for a great thread. I'm going to pass this one along, widely. I do not forward much, unless asked to, this one, I think most USians are in favor of.

Did you know that the taxrate for income over 1 million was 90% in 1960 USA? [look it up!]

Adjusted for inflation, in all fairness, it should be 10 to 15 million now, and 75% is more reasonable as well.

With the savings of a "common-sense" medical system...

[unneeded procedures, fraud, RX at 1000% mark-up; things like 60k for overnight in the ER, on my bill, they charged 19.95 for a single painpill, when a whole bottle of 50, same pills cost 14.95 the next day, same hospital; the bill is full of that sort of thing and is 8 pages long!]

...and a "humanitarian tax" on only the super-rich, which would be less than it was in 1960, We could have actual medical care for everyone in the USA. peace

Thank you on your comment concerning SoldierByte and I.
YES!yay He's my HERO!super

Have you seen Michael Moore's newly released film, "Capitalism: A Love Story"? I watched it this weekend. Absolutely Fabulous!!!
Even if you don't like Michael Moore, this one is the best I have seen. And he also tells of the 90% tax rate on the rich in 1960. You can view it on the net for free. I even downloaded it to my computer with Real Player!

I agree, it's the entire Medical Industry, one of the largest ripoffs in the country, charging outlandish fees for their products and services.

I am all for Taxing the RICH!!!thumbs up

Providing medical care is not the REAL issue.
Cleaning up the fraudulent Medical Industry IS!!!very mad

As our congress-critters proudly proclaim they represent the view, the voices, of the American majority, I only think it to be fitting that they live their, our, proclaimations. Heck, they're our hired hands, I only to believe it to be righteous, on our part, to give them a little of what they say we want. Share, and share alike you know, everything being equal according to the lefts theory.
