I would love to do something like this.

I watched a program at my parents' place tonight, of people who had started up a business based on an idea or hobby/passion.

It got me thinking even more, about what I really want to do with the next half of my life.

Wondering what others here dream about doing?

Maybe you can make it a reality.cheering wine

That looks like a really good idea, go for it. If I had some land I would but here land is not easy to get hold of and planning permission would require the kennels to be outside town limits.

What a great vision you have.
When I travel, it is sooo difficult to find anyone to keep little Tucker ( my pug )...up until recently.
I had to leave him in a kennel at a veterinarian's office one time. It sent him into a coma..it seemed anyway !! He was soo distraught and freaked out when I picked him up after being away for eleven days.
Go for it. I would let you keep Tucker any day of the week.cool

Looks like a great idea.........

My dog is home most days while we are all out to work etc and I often think poor thing no one to talk to her, take her for a quick walk or just that pat...

I have lots of land in the country, 20 acres worth, with a little stone house. But its about 120kms from the city, so opening a day care centre is out of the question, only kennels for longer terms stays. Then again, would people travel 120kms to drop off their pooch before going on their holiday? I suppose if they are driving in that direction, it wouldn't be a problem. Sorry, I'm answering my own question.

Anything you dream about doing, scouse?cheers

OMG, the poor little guy! And how distressing for you seeing him like that!

Oh, to live closer, he would be welcome anytime! Sounds like you have sorted a solution out for him, though. Thank goodness.

Yes, no doubt there will be some minor skirmish, the ol' top dog trick for dominance. laugh

We have a leash free park a short drive from home, and b/w 5-6pm daily there could be anywhere up to about 15 or so dogs. It's surprising to see how well they seem to get on most of the time, and if not, we soon sort them out. It is rare though.

Awww, that's so cute. Are you hoping for pups?smitten

Pugs are adorable. First time I ever came across one was in the movie 'Milo and Otis', when I took my son and young niece to watch it years ago. Did you know there is also a breed of dog called 'Pugtzu'?, with the obvious breeds involved.

Yep! Your way of thinking is Reality. People will not travel. Too far.

And here is another thought

There is saying in the end. For Dogs Sake! - don't leave them home alone!

I am wondering And who is going to protect a house while people at Work or somwere else? Then why to buy a dog? A toy? Maybe but to me it is not practical. Dog suppose to guard. I might be wrong but but it is JMO.

I'd like to have a small, exclusive Nusery of rare or plants. I am sick and tired of looking at Petunias,Marrigolds and Norway Maples in EVERY Yard. I have three acres and I have a young man to help me. He is crazy about plants as well. An him has 20 acres and I have 3 acrea. I think three acres will be enough. I don't want to make it a big scale production Nursery. I want to grow healthy plants in a weedless pots.

Sorry for too long post. Couldn't stop myself

My daughter's dog went to daycare for years. Bear is a better dog for it, Although she is spoiled rotten. Donny and I have talked about doggy daycare often.... I think I want to get out of the kid business.

Hi Konigwave I love your idea of a nursery with rare and exclusive plants. Have you started growing any just to experiment? Three acres is a good size...manageable for what you wnat to do. In any case, there is all the other land with your friend, in case you need extra down the track. There is a growing market with a section of people, like you, sick of the same old plants, as pretty as they might be.

With my land, it has lots of good winter rains in that region, so, instead of having it go to waste, I either sell it, or make use of it. I was thinking of growing some rare Australian native fruit trees.

When do you think you will start your nursery?bouquet

I would never be able to be in anything involved a childcare.

I would prefer 20 dogs over just 1 kid. help

Let me know if you do decide to go ahead with doggy daycare. I would love to know how you get on, and maybe might pick your brain down the track.

It is a good idea but I think K is right, people would not want to travel that distance. In particular upon their return, to have to drive all that way the next day !! You would need to think about getting transport and provide a pickup service but this would be very costly and timely IMO..... Good luck anyway .....wine

That's so gorgeous, having her own room. I know a guy in Texas who sent me photos of his 2 new kittens, in their own room, complete with play equipment!grin

Yes, pugs are known to have delicate sinuses, and they can get qquite blocked. Love them though!heart beating
