First...
WHAT..?? NO darn "tech or Computer" section in
Thread topics..??!!!very mad
Soo this "chat section" is only thing remotely appropiate
place I could find... and I AM SUPER DESPERATE
.
.crying
I need Computer help:
This place is my last resort as I have been EVERYWHERE..
My issue is as such: I cannot seem to get my bit torrent to recognize the port is open. I have tried several dozen ports in the upper 50k+ range and yesterday my bit torrent was recieving and sending all multiples fine with the actual designated port but now I get NO secured sends with it, although
rec from multiple trans seems fine..confused I can start and run downloads and uploads but I get few peers and the speeds are slow. I utilze (secured)Verizon FIOS and Windows Vista Home Premium and a MI424WR Actiontec modem
(which I modified to acept my own security algorythmn ).

The bit torrent seems to decide when the port is clear and not. I have tried setting up static IP via Windows, port forwarding from router, port triggering from router, I know UPnP and NAT PNP are enabled, I tried DMZing the host BUT no luck with any of them. Currently I installed Azureus to see if it's a client problem as I couldn't get up torrent to work at all under Vista when I installed it in hopes of maintaining the integrety of both
the bandwidth even with overclocking QOS packets for testing. but still no luck..my port IS good in Azureus I have the 4.2.0.2 version.

I'm ready to start crying..I am baffled. crying
I know this is a date site.. but heck.. everyone whines how they
cannot find anyone.. so maybe..cause we are all working on our stuff..?hmmm
heck if no dates here.. maybe I get "lucky" this way..dunno
ANY help and I will be GREATFUL to no end..
I AM desperate, frustrated, and so tired of fighting with
this problem.. any geeks, freaks, nerds, phreaks, techs, hackers, creative programmers, IT's or just plain folk..??confused
(and yes.. I usually only beg for sex...
but I'm really DESPERATE..!!!crying )
Thanks...thumbs up

I don't know what to tell you.
You are the expert in this field.dunno

My bit torrent usually works, but I did have that problem one time. I don't know how it got fixed, but it works now.grin

What port are you using to ping? Check that and try other ports and see what happens.

It sounds like you've covered everything possible on your end, except for getting rid of vista. Could your isp be throttling you? I've heard of isp's blocking torrent clients, dunno if verizon is one of them.
Sorry I didn't have the magic solution for you.

Yes Doll Face..
I know YOURS works.. cause you are sending single and rec DESIGNATED multiple..
(is why you can "borrow" so many things..blushing )
I want to REC HEAVY unDESIGNATED multiple and send single secured..
I was going to go to bed after chatting,
but could not stop trying to think this through so
I figured heck..
maybe someone here could help me..dunno

Maybe if you go to bed and sleep on it, you will wake up in the middle of the night with the solution???laugh

It is not VISTA..
I've utilized and was a tester from the Alpha
yes ALPHA.. before they even had a beta version for the
public..
but not Vista, (I tried on alternate os Lin)
but EXACT same thing..
I too felt/thought isp's "blocking.. but I utilize a commercial
server designated for authorized high end trans/rec.. and to make
sure I was getting adaquate bandwidth for that I even tried
testing with a net-book for testing.. still.. all fine..
I'd be happy if it was a block of some sort.. but it seems more so that my ports designated..fail to be recognized.
the "train heads down the road"..
it just "cannot find the track".
and now.. I'm getting blurry eyed from looking, reading,
and crying..
but thank you kind sir..and please..
if you think of an answer.. I'm all ears..!!handshake

Thank you kind lady..
but I have pinged so much..
that I barely recognize English, phone number,
or residences unless they are in http or code..!!crying
It is not that.. I can get in and out..
and in testing..
I have even tried with massive loads, tiny, and varied..
all is fine ..
except program not recognize where the darn door is..!!

I'm assuming that everything was working recently, all OK!

You should know as well as I do...that sometimes the torrent files can be super slow...depending on the seeders(their speed, and number of them)furnishing a file.

I use the "uTorrent" on both my WinXP PC, and also My iMac as well. Both seem to work just fine, with NO issues...w/Comcast.

The other guy was right(in my opinion) that Vista may not be the best OS to use.

Wish I could offer more hope in fixing the problem. I've got 30+ years experience in building/repairing computers. Software issues is tricky...sometimes you'd think they have a mind of their own.

Maybe try setting things back to "default", one at a time! I will follow your thread, to learn if you solve it or not.

I couldn't tell you the number of times I've had to "bite the bullet" as well...but that comes with the territory.

Good luck,
John

You gave me an idea John..
gonna try a different one..
and do as you are utilizing winxp
(healthyLiving does too)..
and possibly, if same outcome..
IS not system, computer, or even hardware..
but if works..
may be settings,
(which as you know in Vista sometimes
are over-ridden cause of that ass-inine
( cannot spell anymore) compatiability algorythmn that
search for what IT feels is/are appropiate settings..!!
We may have it..
but I am too groggy now..
I will try as soon as I wake..handshake
