Please tell me how the death of some poor US soldier in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Vietnam, or any other poor country on the other side of the world contributes in any way to the "right to freedom" of Americans. Such wars are in fact in total violation of the rights of people to live in peace. May the karma for such abominations find its way to those who deserve it.

Ray, I do not totally disagree with you.
Indeed, I would prefer that things be decided by peaceful negotiations.
However, one cannot blame the actual soldiers for doing what
they were ordered to do. While I also do not agree with the
reasons or motivations of all wars, one cannot sanely disagree
with those for WW1 nor WW2. My father was a P41 pilot in the latter. When duty called, these men answered the call. More recently, this country was under attack by terrorism. That war is not finished and Afghanistan is an extension of that. Iraq, while clearly motivated by revenge and oil, was not totally without merit. Surely, the dethroning of Saddam was a positive thing. peace
