He has been honest he that he is not ready to commit to a relationship, so surely stopping seeing her is the right thing to do rather than lead her on and possibly see other women behind her back?

It hurts sooo bad and I am feeling your pain. My last "love" of my life did the same thing...saying "he can't be in a relationship and wants to be single and just has too many other committments bla bla"....only to find out later that he was actually cheating on me and the day after we separated...he was in a brand new shiny relationship!!!

I hope that this is not the case with you but unfortunately there are so many people that can not be honest with themselves let alone other people, including partners...this is directed at both Men and Women!!

I've had a few, or a few more then a few relationships, or marriages in life, and have always remained friends with ex's. Relationships that began as friends, had good times as friends, lovers, partners, and went our seperate ways as friends. I'm sure you wanted to be friends with him when he wanted to be friends with you, or maybe you never wanted to be friends, and now he wants to move on. Find a friend, to go along with the rest of a relationship.

The reasons he has given you may well be genuine. I know plenty of guys who would elect to be single to focus on sports and work - but that doesn't meet they don't date. :-) They just don't get exclusively involved with 1 woman. Don't be surprised if you see him out with another girl or a few girls.

IMO, if a guy is telling you he can't treat you in the way you deserve, he's right. I ask this with kindness: when you close your eyes and imagine the perfect guy for you, is it a guy who is too busy with sport and work to be with you?
