sure do laugh . It also depends on the country as well, here in Australia & in particular South Australia they can now recycle 100% of everything.

My brother in law runs a massive recycling plant in the northern suburbs of Adelaide & everything is resued. concrete, etc is crushed for road making, glass is reused, bottles, good quality white goods, toys, etc is donated to charities, etc & bottles & cans you get a depsosit

In the UK they have a different view, recycling plants are designed to make money for those that work there rather than help the environment.
For example, my local council dump has an area for old gardning equipment, I happened to be there and saw a petrol mower, I asked if I could take it and rebuild it as it would have been ideal for my garden, but was told it was against council regulations to give or sell anything from the dump, two weeks later at a local car boot sale there was the same guy with the lawn mower selling it. when I questioned him he became aggressive and very threatening.
I now have no time for recycling

Thats stupid I thought your idea was brilliant, some councils here & there can be so pig headed & suffer from tunnel vision.

In some regions we have hard refuse days so people put out on the street curbs sofas, chairs, timber, etc you can be guaranteed it all goes by sunrise laugh

Yep, thats the best way to recycle in my book, now in the UK I understand that if you accidentally put the wrong item in a recycling bin at your home you will be fined.
My guess its just another way to tax people, you pay tax when you buy and now tax when you throw it awaydoh

America gets criticized for being wasteful and we are in a lot of ways but in most parts of the US recycling is practiced at a very high rate. You can bring bags of leaves to the dump and they get piled up in rows 30 feet high and it all turns to compost and in the spring you can go back to the dump and load up on this compost for your garden and not a penny changes hands. Here in Virginia the land fills accept garbage by the truckload from New York City because NYC has no land left for a landfill. VA charges NYC for this and we use this garbage to generate methane gas which is used to generate electricity for human consumption. It's a win win for us. Everything is recycled from drain oil to old antifreeze.

A lot of that stuff is worth quite a lot of money. The last I heard, the plastic milk jugs are worth about 25 cents a pound. Plain old junk tin is worth $130 a ton. I,ve been recycling for 30 years.

Good man!thumbs up
I'm a recycling Nazi. Everything gets recycled I generate about 1, 13 gal bag of garbage a week. It also helps to have a compost pile and chickens as you well know. I need to borrow a goat to clear out some thorny briars, can a goat handle that?
