I Remember The days When......

Posted: Apr 20, 2005, 2:55 PM CST
I remember when The news was:
Muhammad Ali: "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee"..

Nixon's impeachment and Watergate: * Just mention for the heck of it since I brought that up. There's a movie about Liddy and The sycamore, IL courthouse is in it. I remember when they were filming, It was a block and 1/2 away from my house. That was a big deal in little ole Sycamore at that time. lol

I remember when cell phones did not exist, and if you wanted to make a telephone call away from home you had to use a telephone booth (I don't think they exist anylonger...) and they had those phone boxes on the interstates....

I'm an Air Force brat.My Dad was stationed at Fort Meade with a small contingent of Air force. I would like to segway into a great big thanx to our men and women in the armed services who are serving, have served or have sacrificed their lives for their respective countries.

dpw they were still delivering milk, butter and eggs to my nanas' milkbox when i was a little girl. It was the Babcock Dairy Co. My nana didn't drive and didn't get out much so it was a blessing. I wish we could bring that back for people now.

Yes, all the time I was in elementary school we had a
milkman who brought milk and butter, an eggman who brought
eggs and a breadman who brought fresh bread. I really was
great for my mother, who of course was an old-fashioned mother, who stayed at home and kept house, while my father worked. That is what women did in those days. But she kept busy, she involved in the PTA, the Parent Teacher Association at the school, and various Ladies Ausilliaries to various things, and the Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Emperire, more or less the British Commonwealth equivalent of the American D.A.R. I think, all because these sort of activities were what housewifes did with their free time. She raised her kids, kept the
house very clean, and was very busy in these clubs and in ofganized charities. Those were the days. Women are
different now.

My mom was a stay at home mom too .I kind of wonder what hopes and dreams she put aside so we could have a decent childhood.I work and feel my son doesn't get everything he should from me.I guess I have working ,single mother guilt.

Cute, It's clearly shows you have a good mother and in turn she taught you how to be. You do the best you possibly can with all you take care of by yourself. I bet you your kids are wonderful human beings. Hey Cute..I sent an e-mail to you.

I remember when all you needed for a school trip was a sack lunch and maybe some spending money.

Back at you Cute.

As I said before, I grew up in Sycamore,IL

Sycamore is known for it's Pumpkin Festival every October. The town gets packed to come see the decorated pumpkin and to see who wins. The display stays up for a week or so and then there is always a parade.

I remember my brothers and sister's use to go up to the court house and get wheelbarrels of pumpkins that all the pumpkin farmers would donate. They just gave them away! won't see that in this lifetime again

I remember when "King Tut" was on exhibition in the United States in 1976. We took a school trip to The Field Museum in Chicago and saw him and some pretty cool possesions of his.

Also remember Steve Martin doing his "King Tut" song on Saturday Night Live"....Still love it!
