Well, I do remember the days, but only because on the
islands everything was obsolete anyway. When I used to
visit my grandmother's house on Bowen Island as a little
kid they had only a small number of loop telephone circuits, like big party lines, except that the ringing
was in common too, and everybody had separate rings,
two longs and a short would be one persons, and they
would have to listen for that ring tone combination.
The handsets were real old fashioned like I've seen in
museums, black, almost cylindrical.
Also, my grandmother's kitchen stove burned sawdust and
they had a room in the basement full of the stuff, which
we kids were not allowed to go and jump around in, and
did.
