Once again I am going to post something that has high emotional content for some people.

Please do not take offense at this.
You state '...,but GOD states clearly in HIS bible...' In everything I have read or heard quoted from the bible there is only one time that god itself is believed to have written anything. While men claim the bible to be the word of god even in their own words god itself has only written upon the stones of moses the 10 commandments. All other things are words written by men under the directions of prophets.

where then has god 'clearly' stated anything except the 10 commandments.
GOD inspired Man to write The Holy Scriptures if you believe in that sort of thing; that is all I have to say about that.

thank you, AB! a true gentleman. i do love my son & his same sex partner who is the best thing that's happened to the boy since me. i used to cling to my son before getting on the plane back to the UK. we finally agreed he'd leave first & not see me thru security. but once he got together w/this partner, i'd just get a bit teary eyed & walk like an adult to be cavity searched. i knew he was ok.

what they do in bed is the LAST thing i wanna know about. i wouldnt want to know if he were w/a woman. that they're happy is all i've ever wanted for him. its just that simple. someone here said its not about sex, its about love. its so simple to see.

Women on this site inspire me to write poetry, that doesnt mean they write it themselves!

God also inspired Mohammed to write the Qu'ran.

So?

AB is spot on. The Bible is a collection of stories. Nothing more.

Pardon me, mam, but GOD states clearly in HIS bible [The Holy Scriptures a.k.a. The Holy Bible] in the book of Leviticus:

"If a man lies down with another man, he has done a disgusting thing, and will be responsible for his own death"..

From reading that line in The Holy Bible, I'd pretty much agree with GOD that HE is against homosexuality of any kind.

Whose God?

Why is God a man?

Why do depictures of Jesus Christ have him as a white person?

Exactly, HE is not white, and he is not pretty. The Bible says that, well, I can't remember what it says. It infers that he is not good looking though.

I still believe the bible was written by man
The 10 commandments is one thing that I believe in
I thought that Jesus was dark skinned (did I read it correctly)
I do not believe same sex relationships is about SEX... My daughter feels just like any of us. She does not like being lied to, cheated on, she believes in honesty, commitment, and love. She just isn't attracted to men. She doesn't flaunt it out in the open or in front of me. She hurts just as much as the next person. I don't judge others that do not accept it, but my heart does go out to my daughter because she has a tough long road ahead of her. She has to deal with alot of prejudice. And she still will not disrespect anyone. I don't know if some one is born this way, or if it is due to things that happen in their lives. But I do know that she is a child of God and God gave her to me for a reason. Wouldn't have it any other way.

I think people are born this way. Why would anyone choose to live with the predjudice that surrounds people with same sex partners. I think we need to live and let live. I have worked with children and know that the predjudice that exsists has a horrible impact on gay and lesbian teens. So much so that some commit suicide or try to hide their true selves. I think we need to be more tolerant of people period. Maybe the world could be a better place for all that way. Everyone should be able to live in peace. How can I tell others how to live or judge them. Not my place or anyone elses. Just my opinion.

Yeah to you The bible might be a collection of stories. But to other people it could be their life manual on how to live their life right. Don't come on here and bash people's beliefs and what they believe in. Me personally I am not for Same sex relationships but if it happens, it happens and you can do nothing about it.

What?
God's motivations are -His- own happiness?
(And here I thought only evil ever accused God of that!).

So when Christ demonstrated the Agape-love of God, by dying for sinners (enemies) on the cross (the Death Cursed by God; the equivilent of the 2nd Death) He was doing that for His own happiness?
When did God ever do -anything- to suit Himself, and not to benefit others?

There is a whole world full of people doing things that God would not have them do...so why pick on the Gay/Lesbians?

When the Religious Leaders told Christ that they found a man with a prostitute (and somehow the man had conveniently gotten away); He didn't judge the prostitute: He just wrote in the dirt (all the sins of the Religious Leaders, who were accusing her, and had probably set her up).
One by one, the Religeous Leaders left...till they were all gone. Christ asked the woman "Is there no one left to condemn you?" She said, "No man, Lord". And Jesus said unto her, "Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more". (John Chapter 8 v 11)

Now, how is it that we heterosexuals should be judging people who are gay...when prostitution is clearly unlawful in The Bible, and yet Christ did -not- judge a prostitute, who was accused by the Religeous Leaders???

Regardless of whether or not your neighbor is gay; which sinner has the moral high ground to point the finger at another sinner, who is their neighbor?

"And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?" Matthew 7, v 3.
Which means...stop pointing the finger at your gay nieghbor, and citing what's wrong with their life, when you've got plenty wrong with your own life. You're not perfect, and you're no better off than your neighbor. Throwing stones at glass houses does nothing but grind your wheels further into hypocrisy.

We're all in the same boat, regardless of sexual orientation. We're all the descendants of Adam. Gays and Lesbians are not from a different planet. They are our blood relatives, just like everyone else. They share the same genetic heredity as everyone else, whether or not they are gay by choice or by gene.

Whatever your opinions about gays...don't start claiming that Christ left -anyone- exempt from benefitting from His sacrifice.
"Where sin aboundeth, Grace did much more abound."

I'm not going to quibble with my fellow sinners about which sin is worse, or if anyone is a sinner due to their sexual preference. But if you think that there's any sin that Christ hasn't paid for, then your must be reading something other than The Bible.
Amen Brotha'!

In response to:
Luke 10: v 30-37 has Jesus telling the parable of the 'Good Samaritan'.
I wonder if we exchanged 'the Samaritan' for 'The Homosexual' if it would change the meaning at all! Maybe it would read like this...

A guy gets mugged by thieves, and is left half-dead by the roadside. Religious leaders pass him by...but then a HOMOSEXUAL saw him, and had compassion on him. Got him an ambulance, paid his hospital bill in advance...
Jesus then asks:
[36] "Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?"
[37] And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, "Go, and do thou likewise".
Luke 10: v 30-37.

So, which would -you- prefer to walk past you when you are mugged?
A religious leader, who reads his bible, condemns homosexuality, and walks past you, or drives past you in his big expensive car?

Or someone who helps you, calls you an ambulance...and, like Jesus Christ, shows compassion to those in need?

You make me choose between what you say and what Christ says...
and you I -don't- know.

Meanwhile, maybe TV Shows like "The L Word" will show all the non-bible-reading so-called 'christians' that gays are people too, no different than anyone else.

I cannot see why anyone secure in their heterosexuality would be at all concerned about whether or not someone else was homosexual.

I have heard that a few people out there who are 'homo-phobic' are only bothered by homosexuality because -they themselves- are fighting latent homosexual feelings that they themselves are having.

When that is the case, then I must concur with the adage:
"Better Blatant than Latent".
dancing cheering applause

with Kat on this :-)

Nobody bashed anyone's beliefs...he simply stated his opinon...That the bible is a collection of stories...I truly dont belive that there has been very much bashing of anything...there has been alot of mature conversation and people sharing their views though...I guess that might confuse some people or be viewed as bashing dunno Bottom line is...the thread is called "What are your views on same sex realtionships" and I think people are simply stating their views!
