IS MARRIAGE IMPORTANT OR JUST AN UNNECESARY EXPENSE??

Posted: Aug 17, 2005, 10:16 AM CST
LOL! My mom gave me little butterfly jewlry box that a saying on it when I was little girl.... "Happiness settles opon you when you least expect it." That's what I have found, it seems when you stop looking for something, that's when you find it! We shall see!!

Yes, these forums are GREAT therapy, for the lack of a better word! LOL! Rainbow is great, I agree, you should send him a quick note and let him know, that would make his day!!!

I totally agree with what you just said "till death do us part" its not like that any more. its to bad too!
I like that."Till I get tired of it and want to try something new".
I think marriage is important. I think the institution is treasured as it once was but not treasured by everyone ,like it once was.

April, I thought I was the only one who married my ex twice. I just lost my totally uniqueness. I have been robbed. No wonder you understand my humor, lol. :)

well nene look around honestly
it is a friggin looney bin!!!
one day my prince will come !!!geeeezzeee how scary is that!!!
not to mention a set up.....yes people do set themselves up but so does the institution of marriage..... mind you , i am not saying marriage, but the institution of it the unrealistic inhuman aspect of it... that commands devotion even when and if you have grown apart .... through no fault of anyone but just because it happens....
and believe me i , at 75 will not feel like i should have nor will i wish i had made a different choice, how do i know? because i have a wonderful imagination and just like boredom is an individual´s lack of personal imagination to occupy their moments so is lonliness one´s lack of awareness that we are not seperate.

It's obvious you have been badly hurt, i am sorry for your loss. The "unrealistic inhuman aspect" as you call it, is what i believe is so very wonderful about it! Marriage is saying "I DO NO MATTER WHAT"(i.e. him going bald, you gaining weight, money problems or having to try harder to keep that spark in your relationship) and having a realistic understanding of what that entails. Marriage is hard work and both partners have to be willing to put in the time and effort.
And the prince charming part, i totally agree with! When my oldest daughter was 4 years old, i read her Snow White and changed the ending....the prince did not come because he was out looking for another princess! LOL i have instilled into both my daughters that you do not define yourself by anyone else's standards and you do not "wait" for that prince to come.......let him met you as a Queen of YOUR castle!

One does not have to have had a loss,or been insecure to enjoy a life of solidarity.
A marrage is something that should be til death do us part, but welcome to the real world, where its about reality, not fantasy.
A marriage can be a simple one, without the expence, bare foot at the beach, toes in the sand, wind in your hair, and the one you are IN love with and someone to read the vows ofcorse.
Like Arabella,Jackie and a few others say, after 3 striks, you can be just as commited living together.
I have never been married,by choice,my 3 sons father and I loved each other, but I was never IN love with him,so when he asked me,I had to decline,I did love him,and we do share 3 children, but deep down I never could see us togther in our latter years still being a couple.
I personally can't see being multiply times, but thats just me,when I look at the picture,I have to see ever detail the picture intales, and its alot to consider.

Alex,I enjoy my own company, and don't need a man to comlpete me,am whole already,so when the time is right,I will be a compliment, not a compromise.
So like you,my life is one I love,and can add to,or take way from,but I always remain,like you,just me,complete,content,loving and a whole being.

some people DO HAVE THE POSSIBILITY AND IMAGINATION TO DO MORE THAN THE CONVENTIONAL TRADITION!!!!!

DAMN GIRLS!! I'm gone for an afternoon of man making up and all hell breaks lose! Why does all the good stuff happen when I am away..... LOL!!

CHILL OUT! We ARE entitled to our opinion! We all have opinions that are formed out of our own life experiences! That is what makes us who we are...individuals!!! So just because I want a prince and someone else wants a friend with benifits doesnt make either one us right or wrong! It makes us WOMEN!!!

NOW....GROUP HUG DAMNIT!

Until some here actually know who they're talking to, wise to drop it, really...You have no idea what anyone has been through here unless they choose to share it...
There are opinions, then there are opinions. No need for the crap. Bad form.
