The reson that they were able dismantle apartheid without a bloodbath was that they were willing to give amnesty and forgive the sins of the people in charge.

If they had not agreed to give amnesty then the ruling party would have clung to power and it would have taken a nasty civil war to end apatheid.

That's why Nelson Mandela is a living saint and you're not. Mandela chose to forgive and forget in the interest of a multiracial South Africa. The ANC were the first to condole with the Botha family. There's great power in forgiveness. Try it sometimes.
how is mandella a living saint? what because he chose to forgive the evil regime that incarcerated him for 27 years, choose your words more carefully, a saint is something else.
mandella being the man he is will always be diplomatic, dont tell me the man does not feel no anger and hatred towards botha.
mandella should have dealt with things differnt when he came to power, he should of opened the prison on robin island for botha and put the man where he should of been behind bars.
i forgive people all the time, sometimes as in this case forgiveness is undeserved...

Who are you to judge whether or not someone deserves to be forgiven ESPECIALLY by someone else?

to forgive is something one does for themselves not for the person being forgiven

as long as you feel your hated or even just the thoughtof what they have done is to give that person control of a part of you

so who is the winner even still because chances are they don't care what you think

good news people the evil pw botha died aged 90 tuesday night, the last hardline apartheid leader president botha was the man who kept nelson mandella in jail for 27 years, from 1978 to 1989 he led the brutal and repressive apartheid regime and presided over some of the worst racial violence in south africa's histroy.
thousands died, many more tortured and countless numbers were imprisoned without trial.
in 1998 the truth and reconcilliation commission found botha guilty of gross human rights violations by ordering numerous killings and bombings.
throughout his life botha claimed to know nothing about the atrocities and thanks to his failing health, he escaped justice.
people raise your glasses, have a good drink and lets celebrate the end of this evil persons life
Never celebrate death yours is next....

Yeah, I heard that on the news. While we can say he may have got what he deserves, it is still up to God who is punished. I cannot celebrate the death of anyone. But, I can say that the world is a safer place for his going.
