There were many hits to this thread.

Perhaps people are so repulsed, they know not what to respond.

The world has some nastiness in it, but none of us wants to live it.

Hope you are, however, looking at the world with happier eyes than those sad souls who know not what their soul is...

"SlaveMaster," An Internet Killer who Prowls Via Email-Truth! & Fiction!

bullet Summary of eRumor:
An email said to be from the Maryland State Police warning directed toward women that says there is someone on the Internet who goes by the name of "SlaveMaster" and who contacts women online. He is said to have killed 56 of them.

This is also a version of the story circulating saying the man's screen name is SweetCaliGuy4evr and yet another saying the name is MonkeyMan or Monkeyman935.
bullet The Truth:
There is a man in custody in Kansas who called himself "Slavemaster" and who is being investigated in connection with the deaths of five women in Kansas and Missouri, according to CNN. There are not 56 victims, and he is not currently on the Internet. The killings are being called "The Barrel Slayings" because the bodies of the victims were found in barrels. Authorities in Kansas say Fifty-six year old John Edward Robinson was arrested in June, 2000, at his home in Olathe, Kansas. Investigators say he toured the Internet for sadomasochistic sex and was arrested after two women told police that Robinson had brutalized them during an encounter in a Kansas hotel.

The SweetCaliGuy4evr and MonkeyMan or Monkeyman935 eRumors appear to be the same story but substituting the new names for the name Slavemaster.

It is natural tendency to pass by these kinds of things, because in our every day world, bad news is of the norm.

I agree, that nonsensical threads get more "airplay" than those which have relevance to our world, but it is also human nature to not want to deal with the heaviness of heartache after an already heavy day. That is why people subscribe to "bullshit" threads.

I am also guilty of having built such stupid threads, but still recognize my seriousness of being when I feel a little more ferocious.

I felt compelled to come to the forefront for such atrocities tonight, but do not always have the energy to do so...

Exactly and people should check these things out first (Google-Snopes) before posting or emailing these stories, we are paranoid enough.
