I need some moral guidance

Posted: Dec 19, 2006, 4:01 AM CST
I am a vegetarian, for somewhat religous reasons. I wont go into detail about that, but for your curiosity its something along the lines of "thou shalt not kill,"

Anyway, I wont eat meat myself, gelatin, or take part in any activity involving the death of any animal (Fishing, hunting etc.)

My question is, I want to be married some day in the near future. And I would never force my beliefs onto my husband. (Meaning he can eat meat) But would it be right for me to cook and prepare meat for him?

I hope you guys can help me... I dont know why things like this have been on my mind so much lately. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!!

Kisses,
Kianna

well i guess the animal is already dead and ready to cook and from ur post you don't take part in any activity involving the death.cooking it,the meats already from the dead animal.so i'd say yes,but its ur call at the end of the day!

Hehe well if I was going on the basis of "its already dead" than I might as well eat it too right? Jokes. Thanks for your help... I just want to be a good wife some day, and I know this problem will come up. So you think it would be ok then, eh?

I would feel terrible, I know I would. I would feel like a bad person I guess... (Dont think I feel that people who eat meat are bad people, to each their own)

But I just dont want to force my morals onto my husband. I want to have dinner on the table for him when he comes home from work. I wanna be a wife from the 50's ;) hehe.

This is really driving me nuts all of the sudden lol.

well, he might appreciate vegetarian food; and he may even be veggie himself. I know vegetarians that won't eat at the same table with people who are eating meat, and I know vegetarians that have no issues cooking meat for others.

Would you be comfortable cooking meat? Can you look down at that steak and not see the cow looking up at you saying "please don't eat me." That's what the real question is. If you can do that...then i say, cook on!

Well ur still a young pup so to speak lol,how about have him eat meat just at the weekend?,i dunno how that would work out though!
If that was me wanting my dinner i wouldn't eat meat every day anyway, just the odd day in the week, theres more than just meat to eat.

Haha morally I would feel terrible, but It wouldnt make me sick or anything to cook meat.

I think it would be hard though, not poisoning him with undercooking or something, cause I dont have much experience with how meat should be when its ready.

Does your steak some times talk to you? If it does its probably underdone as well, I am guessing... hard to say. ;) Thanks for your help :)

You're dreamy haha.

I think he would feel good knowing that I would care enough about him to cook him things he liked... my imaginary children can forget it though. Haha.

Look at all this fuss about imaginary people.

Oh and that dreamy thing in the other post was a joke. I think I sent you a flower or something that said something along those lines. (Koragen)

I guess I always think to myself, humans didn't invent carnivorism. That's why I personally have no objection to eating meat...cause we are the top of the food chain. But...I don't want to sound like I am imposing my beliefs here.

Hey...if you want to cook for me, I won't object to vegetarian! If I have that craving for a steak, I can cook it; all other times, you can cook for me...how's that sound? laugh

I dunno...

I know you wouldn't want to force your beliefs on someone else but don't you think that it would bother you knowing that animal you were cooking had to be killed?

If it would bother your conscience alot than it would only cause problems. If you could deal with it than go for it.

Maybe you could comprimise and still only serve vegetarian food but if he chooses to eat meat either he can cook it himself or grab something while he is out??? If you can cook vegatarian food very well than maybe he wouldn't mind so much. dunno

Hehe seeing as you are so helpful, mr England, heres another one if you so choose to advise me ;)

I went on a trip, across canada last week. Lots of fun. Went with an old guy friend. His girlfriend didnt seem to like that too much though... She said something along the lines of 'she is going to kick my ass' mature eh? Right.
But for the same reason I dont eat meat, I could never hit someone. So in the event that this girl does decide to try to fight me... what should I do???!!!!

I have never met her, but I will be going up there for a visit come new years. Im getting a little nervous haha. I'm such a wimp.

wow, she sounds really mature. I would say ignore the threats. She obviously feels threatened by you. Take it as a compliment, she thinks you are more worthy of the boy than she is! I doubt she would ever actually try to beat you up...
