When will Brits learn to speak English? ( Archived) (151)

Native British speakers seem to have problems with the letter T for example I've heard many Brits speak the word "better" as Be ah with nary a hint of a T, then I've heard things like "no doubt a bow tit" with a very dominant T sound. Why do you have so much trouble with the letter T?

ROFL There is no such language as British, the language is ENGLISH, and its down to regional accent that words are pronounced different, what you are talking about is a Southern, London area accent.
As in what Americans speak is NOT English, it is American, great example the name Craig it is not Creg it is Crayyg, So actor Daniel Craig is not pronounced Daniel Creg nor Creg Fergusson.

I tend to agree with you in a way.

We speak proper in the South, but in Heathen country, north of the Watford gap there are tribes with bad English.grin

The Americans I have met don't pronounce the "T" in often, that was my joke for... Tomycat...
As for the Bulgarian "often", yes, we say the "T" as we pronounce every single letter of the word.
