some Americans] fail to see the irony of their own stupidity of hanging onto a dated law. that has no connection with modern society.

Been saying this for years it's almost a religion with some people. The other irony is these same people couldn't care less about all the other Amendments.

...and refuse to see the true intent of the 2nd Ammendmentthumbs up

The 2nd Ammendment does not exist with an intent to guarantees a right to own a handgun, or any gun.

So I agree with the sentiment, but not the case the in point. The value of our Constitution and it's very essence is it's timelessness. There is nothing wrong with private citizens having certain gun ownership rights, but the primary intent of the amendment is not to regulate gun rights. that's the job of the legislature.

The intent is to be legally allowed to arm and organize a militia to fight tyranny (like O-Scamma-Care...lol).

So of course a militia needs guns. And the recognition of the wrongs of a tyranny is a sterling component of our Constitution that must not be abridged. It is timeless.

But nowhere in the Amendment is there anything that prevents state and local governments from placing reasonable restrictions on gun ownership, use, and display & carry. These things must be done in the name of public safety and,

those of us who do not want guns have rights too.

Public safety trumps some individual rights. That is why I cannot come over to your house and drive my car into your living room, or into a crowd of people. There are reasonable restrictions in place.

I have always said that I do not trust groups and people who object to reasonable restrictions, especially in the face of all the tragic gun violence that continues to escalate in this country.

That is not the fault of a perfectly good amendment. It is the fault of cowards who bend to the business interests of the gun trade (and probably pocket 40 pieces while they're at it)roll eyes

But that is just a post someone put on the internet giving an intension rather than an actual attack, the Uni and the campus mentioned are open and business as usual.
These posts are common, especially after a real attack occurs somewhere. it gives the poster a feeling of power, it is very very rare for the post to be followed up with the described action.

Got this from Tim Kaine former Governor of the Commonwealth.
Tom,

Here in Virginia -- and all across the country -- we know the pain of gun violence all too well. The murder of two journalists who were shot and killed on live television just a few weeks ago, and the more recent tragedy at Umpqua Community College in Oregon, underscore that our country’s gun laws are not doing enough to stem the tide of senseless violence.
BTW, the nutcase who killed the two journalists on live TV was admired by the nutcase who shot up the college.
We cannot wait for another tragedy to spur our leaders to action, and that’s why I hope you’ll join me in an effort to pass an important gun safety measure through Congress.

Will you stand with me and demand the Senate take steps to protect Americans from senseless gun violence? For the safety of our friends and neighbors, we cannot wait to act.

I recently introduced a bill in the Senate that is meant to better enforce current federal law blocking certain categories of people, such as felons, and nutcases, from possessing weapons. My bill places responsibility on those selling or transferring weapons and would hold them liable unless they take “reasonable steps” to ensure they are not placing a gun in the hands of a prohibited person.
This is about common sense solutions that will protect millions of Americans. There’s an obvious problem when convicted felons are able to access military-style assault weapons. The Senate has a responsibility to act and I need your help to make sure they know their constituents demand action.

We can’t wait any longer. Add your voice and demand the Senate pass this sensible gun safety legislation.

Thank you for your support,

Tim
I'm more than happy to sign Tim!

Gun control will make the bourgeoisie safer. Most of these upper and lower middle class kids shooting up schools acquire their guns legally or from someone who got them legally.

Gun control for the urban working class, however, is murder. Gun crime amongst this segment of society is not normally conducted by someone in legal possession of a firearm. Gun control will disarm the working class but it will not disarm the untermenschen next door.

rizlared: So it is okay to pick and chose between social responsibilities? Like it's okay not to steal a car, but okay to shoot the driver? If society can not show real responsibility, what chance do the individuals have to be responsible for their own actions?

It is not ok to shoot anyone and a "normal" person IS responsible for his/her actions.

What about the human rights if the innocent, killed in their own country going about their lawful business, what about a child being allowed access to guns? In a country beset with gun crime?

Do you know how many innocents have been killed in many countries around the world on wars that other countries have started on their own benefit?

Then one begs the question, why? Why was a fit healthy young man seeking refuge from his country, rather than fighting for its freedom and erasing the evil that is penetrating it? It would seem these young men don't deserve to be granted refugee status but rather should be returned to their country to stand up for their people rights.

The point being Lifesadream, that if these men actually stood up to the enemy and forced these terrorist to go, they would have pride in themselves and from the rest of the world, as a bonus, their women and children would be welcomed to most countries around the world, looked after and then helped to return to their victorious countries.

Because the war in Syria is not Syrian and that war has climed over 500,000 lives, why to add one more?

I despise and hate all ideas about wars and violence, I am mostly a pacifist at heart and completely believe that in MOST circumstances, dialog can solve MOST problems.

However, if any country/faction physically attacked England, I would return and fight, with bare fists if required, because in my heart, I know that this is the right thing to do, for my children and children's children, and because I am proud to be British!

You must be 1/2 pround Rizlared since you said you are 1/2 British.

Please explain How "the war in Syria is not Syrian " I think you will find that actually, it is their war, as they have been attacked by an uprising and then terrorist group on their land, so please, enlighten me as to why, your tall handsome and strong "refugee" is not fighting for HIS COUNTIES FREEDOM? Refugee or just a coward, making good his escape?

I have never said I am half British, please read my posts carefully, I am 100% British, but not English!! As for your being 1/1 human that stands for human rights, How can you stand by and watch the human rights of Europeans being stomped on by politicians and do nothing, yet seem happy to encourage that destruction, double standards seem to be popping up everywhere.

You have decided to support the refugees, well thats fine, you being in Mexico, a huge country with a tiny amount of refugees. Maybe at some point you would like to look from the other side of the ocean, with an open mind as to who has human rights!

Just thought of an example
Supposing you have two dogs, one is loyal, protective towards you, even maybe affectionate, the other, growls when he sees you, would bite your hand if you tried to show affection.

You only really have enough food for yourself, but want to share with the dogs, which dog would you give the most food to???

Both dogs are now your responsibility, the kinder dog will be faithful to you, the fierce one may kill you to survive.

Me, I would chose to feed the faithful dog, because between us we can make sure we can both survive, but how about you Lifeisadream?

Where were you born?
Not that it matters just for the math.

I am 100% Mexican
I was born in México
I do live in México
I do make my living in México
AND
I am not Nationalist I am Patriotic.

To enlighten you about the Middle East wars, would take my whole life and no I am not spending it that way.

If you want to follow the tv + the news and accept everything they say there, that is your decision.. To know what is going on in that region and in the world you do have to do your own research and that goes well beyond tv and the newspapers.

I am against wars, better I am for peace.

I do respect people’s religion, culture, way of living and I have being to a few Arab (Muslim-Islam) countries and many others (European, Latin, etc, ones) 24 total of them so far and they are just amazing “all of them”.

If your country and many other countries “could” stay away from other countries (like Syria) they (Syria and the other) would have to resolve their fights and problems and there would not be all this millions of refugees but that is impossible because wars are goooood business and they (the ones that do wars like your country) do not care about human, animal and plant’s lives. Yes, your country, the one that you are will-ing to fight for.

But let me see:

Your country is being "invaded" by illegal immigrants, Muslims, Islamism, Refugees...and you will fight for your country.....flex
but you are in China.

just talkin here, apparently you are not reading my post's and as the most prosperous state in the Union it can be somewhat attributed to a low crime rate as a totally armed society, check the stats. we are under attack by globalists who are in high gear to have they're will imposed on us.

they could care less we float the boat of the US economy, and we could care less about the propaganda comin out of the UK, they have banned guns and they're crime rate is three times higher than the whole US's crime rate in 50 states, its all bravo sierra. now if this offends anybody just dont be offended, if you were to hear me in person this is how I talk, in fact I get invited to speak all the time on this type of nonsense.

this post was about a terrorist attack and nobody will talk about it.

As far as being a part of the evil "bigger republic", Why would we want to be part of an out of control rogue off the rails
corrupt system, the US goobermint has become dangerous...its just part of the global beast goobermint. the same one that runs the west, the EU,the UK, etc....

good to see y'all!

Sounds reasonable.........

According to Time magazine, the package features a version of an earlier proposal to expand background checks, but now also includes online gun purchases and firearms bought from unlicensed dealers at gun shows.

It also contains a bill announced by Connecticut’s senators last week that would bar gun sales until background checks are complete. Under current law, if a background check is not completed within 72 hours, the sale can be consummated.
