secretagent09: 8.7 miles is too close. When Sept. 11th happened I didn't hear the planes hit but when viewing it on tv and knowing it was only 35 minutes from me was quite scary.
Even now I have to assume anyone around me has bad thoughts about Americans.

Oh, I know what you mean....too close for comfort and the thing is, we never know when a disaster will strike and just have to hope that we're not in one when it happens.

2intrigued: Aww, thank you for being concerned about little old me. The blast happened at about 4:20 p.m. about 14 km east of me where one person is confirmed dead.

I didn't even hear about the explosion until I read this thread....goes to show you how much I pay attention to the news. 
They are still investigating the cause but it wouldn't surprise me if it was a gas leak.
