Stick around in the forums and blogs, you'll make plenty of friends.Just don't try to make friends, let it come naturally. You'll get the better quality friendships that way.

Try participating in the forum threads... We lean more towards the crazier side of the scale but we mean well & you will make some good friends along the way, as well as a few odd balls.

And to further my point about oddballs , they have absolutely no SOH & use the banning button if they don't like a response to their post.

yep yep yep I understand you completely. I find the older I get and the more of lifes experiences I acquire the more difficult it is to make friends. Tactile friends. I think I am less likely to play peoples games or to care what they think. Wish you the best. I have a few good close friends of quality. I also have learned it is not quantity but quality I seek. 
Just wanted you to know you are not alone on this.

If it's online you want to make friends, join in the forums, some good ppl here.
Are there groups you can join locally ? When I moved here 6 years ago I joined some walking groups, sports clubs etc and local volunteering. It helps to meet people with a shared interest.

well they did a study and came up with this,
men after a certain age 35-40 and older are less likely to make new friends
then women, men don't want new men friends just new women friends,
I think there is truth in that,
