Beachfarmer, I know you have a story to tell,are you ready to share it?....aliyah

My "real" Grandmother "Alma" died when my Father was 4 years old. I have (obviously) never actually met "Grandma Alma".

I have felt her presence at important junctures in my life with no proof rhyme or reason to my claim.

Perhaps it's just a superstition carried over from boyhood that I've never lost. Perhaps the "thought" of her alone IS my Guardian Angel!

I'm not a big fan of synthetics anyway.

Last summer I was at the river by the trestle with a friend,, we play music with our portable amps and electic guitars. I grew up on this old river and crossed this trestle many times. lots of spirits in these waters and bedrocks.....anyway I was stepping down about 3 feet so would not jump the entire 7 feet. My right foot sliped and I ended upside down with my head full cotact with the bedrock floor. It was a warm feeling and I felt as though someone was there and gently set me down. I looked up and my heart was not racing ,,,it seemed as though I had just landed on feathers,,no marks no bruises,,when My friend Ric Heard me call his name he came and looked down there and thought I was dead..so,,maybe a spirit , a ghost, I would say that many labels are used and we see things as we may , they are there though. I got up and we played till the sun went down and I never had any pain at all.
The next day I tripped on a crack in the side walk and wiped out my hand knees and new phone. kind of crazy as that was nothing compared to the day before ,, I would have had a busted head under what we would call normal circumstance.

Hello...I can say this, since I was very young I have had several encounters with ghost! I use to live in an old house, which was my apartment and one night I was sleeping...something woke me up and when I looked over at the corner of my bedroom, there was a old man standing there looking at me! I can go on and on with stories of loved one's who have passed on....coming into my dreams! I can go into a house or building and tell you if there are ghosts in there too! Crazy, I know........K

My training is in psychology. Usually we are not given to the belief in the supernatural. I have seen some things in my life that I could not explain. To this end I have started to form my own theory about ghosts. So I guess since I am on my lunch hour I will share it with you.

Do I believe that there are free floating, disembodied spirits roaming the earth? Some sort of "left behind essence" of the individual? I would have to say in my OPINION. No.

So now we come to my theory explaining what it is. I will start with a little background info so my rantings seem like they have some basis. We, as human beings, effect our suroundings. Every aspect of our life effects the world around us. If we have had a cruddy day, then its a fair bet someone around us will know. Ever been at work or school and have someone walk up to you say, "Having a bad day?" If we are calm peaceful individuals then the people around us will know that. Ever have that friend of family member that was the "rock in a storm." You felt safe around them. You knew inside nothing in the world could shake that person. These are all parts of who we are. Take into account, for all the wonders of human kind: art, poetry, music, what have you, that human beings are machines. We need energy to run. We consume organic to semi organic materials, which in turn are consumed and burned as energy. This energy is in turn given off as body heat as it is burned. Ok, technical crap out of the way. Now on to the more fanciful.

For however many years we are alive, we are giving off energy. The feeling of who we are. The things around us absorb that energy. The exmaple I use is what I like to call "Holding a penny." Try it, hold a penny tightly in your hand for a while. Time will vary based on the hot blooded nature of whom ever is holding the coin. Then give the coin to someone else. They will feel the coin is warm. Now of course, since the coin is not actually producing its own heat it will fade until it is just cold copper, or whatever metal they make them out of today. So in this same way our suroundings soak up the energy we give off. Over time that energy is then returned into the suroundings. So as it bleeds off there are individuals who can pick up on said energy. Much the same way as walking in your kitchen and realizing the oven is still on, even though you havent looked at it. Ever walk into a house and you just knew it was a bad place. Had no idea why, just knew it.

The people who pick up on this will see it in different ways. Our minds have a way of perceiving the world around us and then fashioning what we see into something we understand. So, visiting dear old granny's house you get to sleep in the same bed you did in your care free days of youth. You are warm, comfortable, and you feel safe. Then you catch something out of the corner of your eye. You think you see the image of your dearly departed loved one walking by, or doing something that you were used to seeing them do.

So I think "ghosts" are more a way of our minds explaining things to us we do not understand. Linking them with images from our past that we will. Remember, we communicate in words. Our brains do not. It only knows images and sensation. Anyway, thats my take on it. Hope this wasnt to long.
