I have never gone out of state, but have received MANY emails from, England, Netherlands, Sweden, Australia, Israel, etc.....
The only problem here is that these guys were 15 to 30 years younger than me.

I usually reply with a little advice to the effect that I have a son older than they are, and suggest they find someone closer to their age. The fact that they claim they love "older" women doesn't wash.

I think long distance is fine in one way and bad in another. Think about it, if you really think that she is the one u can get patience to wait for the day you meet in person and u would have enuff time to learn more about that one So, u could meet her and can have more info about what she likes and dislikes and more friendly becoz ice is already broken between you and her...
But the bad and sad part of the story is when u think she is the one, everyday is damned thats becoz u r away from her, so ur life will be miserable and will suffer and it will be like a tornment that you see her on cam, talk on IMs and phone, even text her but u cannot touch or feel or kiss her...Thats the frustrating part of it...
Either way, it is an alternative way and a good opportunity to search for your soulmate on the internet or if you in another country on a business trip...
Think about this, since the internet was invented, how many international or interstate relationships have been started??

That is just the question you have to ask each other up front. Use Email and sound each other out. Then if you are both hooked then be up front with question. Make sure neither of you have lied and received a very current picture of each other other up front so each honestly knows what to expect.

Then cross your fingers and hope.
