ALBANY, Ore., Feb. 5, 2007
(AP) An Albany father used a 100,000-volt stun gun on his 18-month-old son, police said Monday. Rian Whittman, 23, has been accused of assault and criminal mistreatment. Police said he used it "multiple times" over three weeks. A police spokesman said there were up to 10 instances.

Police said Whittman's wife, 21, who was not named, reported the abuse on Saturday.

The child was treated at a hospital, police said, and then taken into protective custody by the state Department of Human Services.

Capt. Eric Carter said the police haven't established a motive for the abuse, nor why it began about three weeks ago.

He said the device was not a Taser weapon, named for the manufacturer, but an older model that's applied directly to someone's skin.
Thanks Lori ... my heart is crying for a baby

Some people don't have the common sense that God gave an amoeba. Time will tell what problems that poor kid will have. A normal life will probably be a challenge. As for the father...part of his sentencing should be castration to make sure he never has any more kids. He OBVIOUSLY doesn't deserve them. Not a chance in hell they'd execute him for this, even though it would probably be best for all children. Maybe they should just use his own device on him until his nads fall off.

He must have been terrorizing his wife, too...or I'd think she would have reported it sooner. At least I'd hope so. If I'd have seen him do it the first time, there wouldn't have been a second time. very mad

Makes me sick to my stomach.

Being a mother, to see my child abused like that... I would have reported the abuse (knowing that it would take a few days for the authorities to follow through) kill the son of a bitch alleging self defense, and then take it from there... she lost her baby anyhow... she will never get him back, and she will go to jail under accesory charges...

Child abusers and molesters ... they deserve death not a chance at rehab or resocialization... their victims certainly never had a chance.very mad very mad very mad very mad very mad very mad
