Is it the fear of pain, or the fear of what they will miss? Or just the fear of the unknown?

You don't cry because you fear death, i am not scared of my demise. But, i will cry for the ones that i love that i am going to leave behind. The times of laughter, love, and happiness is what you will see, you will forget the pain, hurt, wrongdoings, etc.

Tears will never be in my eyes for pain, or fear of dying, my tears will be for love.

I think it's a little of all three...Death is final and having to let go of everyone you love has to be just as hard on those dying as the family and friends that have to watch their loved ones go!!!!!!!

conversing conversing

Neither was I! Maybe it's because they don't want to die? Or is that too simple an explanation?

If you live life moment by moment you won't have to worry about it cause death will be and you will still be enjoying the moment.

It will just change your state by removing your body from the equation.

Might be if you are 90 years old! At that age I don't think you would be crying though, more likely glad to be leaving.

I sat with my Father the hours before he died and till the end.. And yes he cried. He wasn't prepared to hear the doctor say...I'm sending you home with your daughter to die. He simply wasn't ready to give up. There were tears for things he was not going to do. Tears for things he wished he had done. He wasn't ready. I don't know about anyone else and what they feel before they leave this earth...only his words...

My father passed away in my step mom's arms last year. She told us boys that he was in no pain and didn't weep. I've often wondered about that.

when tallkin with my dad and sister who both died young to cancer..dad 42...sis 36...neither feared the unknown or the pain as much as they were sad to lose what they were leaving behind...my sis especially because sge was leaving 3 kids...one a brand new baby....that she wouldnt get to watch grow up.

Yes, I think if it was my time to go, I would just be sad that I would miss so much. But if I was in horrible pain or whatever, that might surpass my wishes to live on. I know someone that went through that. The pain over shadowed every other consideration.

The people that I have seen die are mostly ready for it..they distance themselves, become introspective..most want to be awake for as long as they can to say their goodbyes and make peace with those they need to.I have never seen anyone cry but I think because they welcome the peace of death after a very long life and period of over all decline.Family memebers cry more than the dying resident.
