I loathe, despise this innocuous , vague yet narrow minded term "normal"; it is totally relative; no one or group has an exclusive patent or copyright on it, not even these bizarre "fundamentalist" of any religion who are always more mental than not,( is it any wonder that they all need funds...)
I have always thought it a shame that there never was a "Hippie State" or small country, other than in one's mind...but then again, if there was, I guess that it would be under siege, under attack all the time simply because it would be "different".
Many of the old Hippie communes have turned to organic farm communities , especially in California and a few other States...I'm glad that something of it all has survived; it leaves people with more choices on how to live and be "normal" within themselves away from the cesspools of what the majority label as "normal". All societies need what Monty Python announced on many of their shows:" and now for something completely different..." %) I hate conformity.
