I think it's a very sad situation all around. I don't think Floyd was wrong for trying to help. I do think he went about it in an adrenalin/testosterone kinda way, putting the life of himself and his son at risk. It's not like he was saving the cops life. And to pull a gun on a teen who was already holding a gun was just stupid. But I was not there. He was trying to help.

I am not trying to judge this guy.

I do however take issue with the way the law will handle it. Floyd will have to live with what he did if only in his conscience.

"And to pull a gun on a teen who was already holding a gun was just stupid."

Actually, the copkiller was 24 years old, not a teen

Kieyotie U have more sense than any man ive seen on here yet, on things like this.I dont believe in killing, but u can bet if someone breaks in my house he will be facing a loaded 38,and I know how to use it.I totally agree with u about helping others. As a kid I had more fights for an underdog or someone being mistreated than anything else.Your kind r disappearing my friend. if I was ever in trouble I would hope ur were around. This crap of watching someone murdered, and then saying I didnt want to get involved, stinks to high heaven in my books.thumbs up

Alrighty then! I was going to stick around to participate in this thread but after 30 mins., I'd say it's a pretty safe bet this thread is going nowhere.

So I will just voice my concerns and get on with my day.

My beef with this situation is why is "Floyd" justified in his actions, according to the police? It goes against everything we are taught.
"Two wrongs don't make a right" .... "no one is above the law" ... etc.

Why is he not being held accountable for his actions in shooting this kid?

Oh, this is a grand ideology to embrace. Under this notion, I'll do nothing if I witness my neighbor's house is being burglarized, a woman is being assaulted, an old lady is being mugged, or if a child is being abused.
Gee, if you believe that the HERO, which stepped into possible danger to aid a fellow human being, should be charged for shooting the perpetrator, I hope you're not around if I'm ever in need of aid.
The darkest ideal to embrace is placing more sympathy, empathy and/or compassion in the criminal than those they victimize.
It may just be my opinion, but law is worthless without consequences.frustrated

"no one is above the law"

His actions were legal. I don't know where you get the idea that this good samaritan committed a crime by doing what he did. If he did commit a crime, his fine should be serving 1 hour of community service as the grand marshall of a parade in his honor. I'm not sure many people would do what he did. This idea of forgetting about the real victims of the crime and ensuring the rights of the perpetrators of it has to stop. Why can't we do both? The 'political correctness' of our society will be the downfall of it.

I fail to see a conspiracy theory in the info you posted.
"The 'political correctness' of our society will be the downfall of it." - so true, it scares me.
I absolutely agree with your post. peace

Actually, the worst that can happen is IF the family of the copkiller decides to hit Floyd with a civil suit. In some some cases, this can be worse than getting over the fact that you killed someone.
Actually the odds are that the family of the cop killer would have a better chance in winning the case, than Mr. Floyd...
I agree that Mr. Floyd did exactly what was needed, especially since he tried to get the killer to drop his gun.
Honestly, Mr. Floyd desreves a lot of respect for doing what was needed and having the guts and moral fortitude to do it.

Actually alot has come to light in this case since it happened. If you do a google search on Liko Kenney, Bruce McKay or Gregory Floyd, you just may change your mind on this issue.

sounds like a perfect example of taking the law into own hands. unless he can prove that he killed the suspect in self defense and or in defense of the police officer, while he was alive and still under attack, he must be charged for first or second degree murder at best. he should have secured himself and his son and called 911 right away.

this is, of course, without knowing all the facts......

Most people would have done it this way ... which is why I posted this originally in the first place.

The former police chief is quoted as saying "Floyd is someone you want to stay away from." It is also on record that he has threatened police and Public Service personal who came to read the electric meter.

Local gossip say he is not dealing with a full deck and has been looking to shoot someone for years. After the police released him, he was seen around town telling everyone he was the one who shot the kid. I've never seen a town so afraid of one person ... they say it's like he has been giving permission to shoot people.
