I've always had a thirst for knowledge. I think most people would agree, everyone has a place they'd like to go visit and explore. To see what it's like, etc.

Tell a bit about what your area is like and how you'd describe it through the eyes of another.

Well the city I am in Long Beach is home to the largest port in the US within the top 5 busiest in the world.
Home of the Long Beach Grand Prix, lots of movies are filmed in Long Beach.
Now as far as CA, theres alot of stuff, probably could not mention it all.
Home of movie making (Hollywood), Disney Land, Knotts Berry Farm, the home of where the Boysenberry was created which was at knotts Berry farm by Walter Knott.
Probably have the worst traffic jambs.
The space shuttle lands here.
We have the highest mountain in the Continental United States, (mt Whitney, 14,491ft/4417 meters) the richest man on the planet lives here (Bill Gates), lots of smog, Gang bangers, freeway shootings.
Excellent weather, and I am sitting here on this damn computer and its very nice out, beach is 10 blocks away, I'm a looser.
No really its pretty exciting place, not easy to live here though, you need patience or join a gang and be a criminal, I certainly do not think I will retire here, to expensive.

Oh, well, Nanaimo is an old coal mining town which is
also a harbour city with a lot of fishing boats and
sailboats. It is very green and pleasant with a nice
climate, two weeks of snow a year, perhaps, and couple
of rainy months in spring and fall. Hotlips we have
a Newcastle Island in the harbour named after your city
and had a coal in it once and a shaft connected it to
the mines under our city, all long gone now. They
fueled the British Pacifid fleet in days gone by.
Now it is tourism, fishing, whale-watching, and the
forest industry nearby. Nice little city of 100,000
50 miles east of more famous 1.5 million Vancouver
where I was born and raised.

Oh man, you had to ask. Well the little town I live in is surounded by Pork producers. Then there's the main employer in town, Reinharts Foods, which makes vinegar and some other food products. So the only way to describe it would be to say, " It's a great place to live, if you like the smell of pig shit & vinegar".

jrcfan, I think we live in similar towns. Except, of course, I don't live in town. Ada's primary employers are Solo Cup company, which apparently believes 6$ per hour is a living wage, and Flex-n-gate, which pays well but has 70% of their employees in a near-constant state of lay-off. They paint Ford car parts. Other than that, it's a small college town of 12k, give or take, smack dab in tornado alley. Fine weather in March, if you ask me; beats the summer winds. I live on a little farm outside the city limits, and if it weren't for the wind and the clay, and the pig farm up the road, I might be happy with it. I like to see things grow, hate flies, and miss having a lovely garden. I once lived in the mountains - I'm looking to return to them.

Well, Missoula Mt. has mts every way one looks, several colleges, they call it a town, but to me it's a city. The mountains are what I love. The weather is like 4 seasons a day at times. We've had 80* weather on the weekend then cold rain for a couple days now and is suppose to continue for another couple days, we need the rain. One bad point is the good weather brings the fires on. And we live close to the Idaho border. 1/2 hour or so from Lolo hot springs.

Christchurch NZ is a city that thinks it's a small town, despite having a poplation of 460,000 people we manage, (that's everyone) to run into someone we know that we weren't expecting to see, everyday.

NZ is a true multi cultural place, with every nation represented, and just about every religion too.
Christchurch likes to be different, some of the people you will find roaming the streets paid by the govenment to do so are, the Wizard of New Zealand, who is charged with alleviating public boardom, educating the masses on anything he can think up and being a living work of priceless art, verified by the Prime minister and the top art experts of this country.
He is exempt of taxes and has an apprentice for when he retires.
We also have two village idiots who's job is to promote charities and public events by not allowing anyone to ignor them and doing silly stunts.
We have a town crier in full costume and we have a public executioner and shame officer, for those crimes that should not go annoymous.

Christchurch is a closet Goth city, we have a really large amount of black clothing worn by everyone, people from out of town comment on it.
We even cultivate black tulips.

Christchurch boasts a large art influence and live music scene, we love to have coffee and there are more than 4000 licenced food outlets in the city.

Anything you want to do is within 3 hrs of the city centre, snowboarding, the beach, mountain biking, thermal pools, shopping, culture great food and wine.

Christchurch boasts an impressive amount of registered religions and we even have a church of the Jedi, started as a joke by a local radio station for the last census, they got enough people to put down their religion as jedi and it passed.

We have the largest transgender population per capita in the world, we are fearcly proud of or woman priminister and if you tell us something is impossible, count on someone having done it by next week.

We love festivals in this town and there is always one on.
