Why did Bush think that it was important to the interests of this country to start a war in Iraq? If the concern was that UN resolutions were being violated by Iraq then why should we act as the policeman of the world? And why should we choose which UN sanctions we'd like to see enforced and which ignored?

The whole world is so much more dangerous now because of our myopic, self-centered actions. We need to learn to live-and-let-live. Not everyone wants to live like we do and we should leave people alone to their own devices. Nor do we have a divine right to the natural resources of the world.
Well said!

Russians could not win war with Afghanies. If US itself enterd war with Soviet Union, don't you think that WWIII could start in that time.
Without American assistance and technology (like shoulder launched "stinger"missles), I sincerely doubt the Afghan's could have won in my opinion. Super powers (the US, China, and the Soviet Union) use smaller countries as pawns all the time in the global chess game to prevent large scale conflicts and to gain a strategic geographical advantage. Chinese- Korea... The US- Afghanistan/Nicaragua.... The Soviets- Vietnam/Cuba... Iran- Iraq as a few examples. I believe a direct armed conflict (WW III) between the G8 powers is unlikely to ever happen again- "it would be bad for business (economically)" as the Mafia would say.

It is even more myopic to fail to understand that there are things that happen behind the scenes that none of us ever know. The ONLY things we believe we know, is told to us by the mass media. There is no way Bush/US would/could have undertaken this action in Iraq without prior approval from other countries. Ever think this may be part of a bigger plan we aren't informed of? If this action were considered THAT significant (globally speaking)- Why isn't China or Mexico (or any other exporting country) imposing a trade embargo against us? Why are no other significant nations sending troops (like Norway) to battle against the US coalition forces in mass? Only children and the mentally challenged don't realize what joke and how corrupt the United Nations is.

"live-and-let-live"- idealistic fantasy in a fantasy world. While I would generally agree that we should leave people alone to their own devices... it's the typical liberal socialist, greedy capitalist, any special interest group (E.G. PETA, National Organization of Women, Sierra Club), radical Muslims, globalist, et al seem to always want to meddle in the affairs of other countries/cultures. Who claimed we (the US) had a "divine" right to natural resources to begin with (aside from the jealous, envious, and liberals)? Sounds like liberal guilt and hypocrisy to me. Apologize... yet consume and take full advantage of everything America offers. There are poor children who live in the middle of the Amazon rain forrest who do not own a computer! It's Bush's fault! Wait... manufacturing computers takes natural resources and if we give them computers that may be interpreted as meddling in their culture too (last three sentences facetiously submitted).

Very simple question: Overthrowing of Saddam was good or not?Forget what was real motivation of Bush behind it(If there was any) . By the way why all of the times we speak about intrest of our country and forget intrest of humanity. Many people say there was no mass destruction weapons in Iraq.So why US attacked there? Maybe was not, but what about milions of people who were suffering under Saddam regime?
This attitude does not show that we just think about ourselves???

No! overthrowing Saddam was not good. Yes! he was a bad person But we Americans cannot police the whole world and decide witch leaders should be removed from office and or killed.

We preach democracy...But when the palestinians ELECTED a government that did not agree with US wishes...the began punishing that freely elected government

i do think its a good thing that saddam was overthrown from iraq, but what people perhaps dont realise is that iraq now is in total chaos at the moment and crime is 100% in the country. under saddam there was no crime.

well, it looks to me...you are just looking for an argument, and I won't go there!

You don't like GW and I don't like GW...so we are in agreement. My comments were directed to my countrymen who feels it is unpatriotic to talk bad of your leaders, esp in an international arena.

Actually the patriotic Americans are the ones who recognise the corruption of this current government and long to have the country like it was meant to be.

The ones that complain it is unpatriotic to talk bad of the leaders are those that support the party. If another party was in then those same people would have no problem talking ill of the leaders.

We have leaders that puts capitalism and ego over the needs of their own people. No matter what party is running, everything that comes out of their mouths depend on what they think will keep them in power.

Yeah...911 was a horrible and tragic event started by someone's relative who just happens to be close family friends and business partners.

I think their "Homeland Security" is just a joke. The border to mexico is WIDE open ready to be entered by whomever...they sell our ports and highways for the almighty $$$ and tax payers are paying salaries to a worthless Department supposedly created to protect us.

Out the Window
George Bush, Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld are flying on Air Force One. The President looks at the Vice President, chuckles, and says, "You know, I could throw a $1,000 bill out the window right now and make somebody very happy."

The Vice President shrugs and says, "Well, I could throw 10 $100 bills out the window and make 10 people very happy."

Not to be outdone, the Secretary of Defense says, "Of course, then, I could throw 100 $10 bills out the window and make a hundred people very happy."

The pilot rolls his eyes and says to his co-pilot, "Such arrogant asses back there. Hell, I could throw the three of them out the window and make 56 million people really happy."

Right on lady. Bush might have got us into this but right after 9/11 everyone wanted to take care of Afganistan. And Bush made up lies to go to Iraq. Now we are fighting a two front war. Its hard for a soldier. You cant tell who is who. And what makes it even worse is that Bush wont own up to it. From a soldier i would love to see him impeached.

how ludicrus is it to say..we will install democracy, whether you want it or not!?
The war in Iraq is GW's war, not the Iraq war.

if it were not so, our troops should have begun to muster for home deployment within 24 hours of the Iraq PM stating ..We don't need the coalition forces, we can protect our own country!

These people have been fighting amongst them selves forever..we can not make them want democracy.

Now GW wants to pick a fight with Iran! Can we please have just one war at a time??

Afghanistan, Iraq, N.korea, Iran, Dufar...Is GW a freedom fighter?....No! Did he serve in Virtnam?...No! Will his daughters serve in Iraq?...No!very mad very mad very mad
