With all due respect. I'm not getting back at anyone, I'm not cramming anything down someone's throat, nor have I used any insulting language. The problem is, if I don't speak up on the same level, you can't be heard in a crowd like this.

This is not just about making someone believe in the same thing. This is about removing charlatanry and hoaxes from the public belief because it is hurting society as a whole. It's not just about UFO's or aliens or angels, or whatever. It's about a principle. People making unqualified statements and claims that have no scientific reasoning, yet are selling them as rational and scientific. All of this is just pseudoscience and hurts the public understanding of real science and progress in important fields as well as the education of future generations.

This may sound like an exaggeration but there are many pieces to a puzzle. This is just one of them but it needs attention nonetheless. Nobody with respectable knowledge of science should stand by and just accept crazy ideas, whether they are posted in "Nature", your local newspaper or on a dating web site.

If you feel that I was too harsh, then I'm sorry, but I have to disagree. There was nothing rude about it. Sometimes a debate gets heated and the intensities go up, but there has not been any name calling on either side.

Are you referring to the Drake equation? That changes by the day as life (as we know it) is redefined...and, going back to one of your earlier posts about rational explanations that we are still to stupid to understand...why does it have to be "life as we know it"? That is sheer narrow-minded arrogance...

Statistically? Statistically, Funguy, there are so many possibilities that you're into infinite monkey range. However, realistically, there are a lot of variables that cannot be fulfilled. The number of possible planets in the universe as it is known today still stands in the bilions. The probability that there is no life on any of them except this one can't actually be a number because of unknown parameters. But statistically, out of all those planets, it would be more of a fluke if we were alone than not.

Of COURSE UFOs exist. The question isn't do they exist, but what are they. A UFO is an unidentified flying object. Anything that flashed past you in the air you didn't recognize is a UFO until you identify it. (All I'm really picking at here is the terminology.) If you're walking in the park and something buzzes past your head and you jerk, going "What the hell was that?!?" Well, it was a UFO. Might have been a bee. Might have been a Frisbee. lol.

UFOs fall into a lot of different classes. UFOs that appear to be possibly natural phenomena, UFOs that question intelligent control (which might include but not be limited to top-secret military projects), or UFSs that question extraterrestrial origin.

The fact of the matter is, science will always try to reason away the unexplained. And when they can't, they will ignor it's importance......until it can no longer be ignored. Thus has been the way of science for as long as science has been........

Yes of course! That's because science examines things that can be subjected to experiment. The experiment is the sole judge of truth.

I don't have any problem at all with heated debates...but, sometimes it gets to a point way above the heads of many of the others, effectively knocking them out of the "debate".

I have just read FunGuys reply...it was polite and respectful and, because he explained it in language I can understand, I can at least see where he's coming from.

If I wasn't on slow land line, I'd give anything to see some of the videos mentioned, but it takes forever for me to even download something, I wouldn't even attempt an hour-long video.

I'm hanging on to this thread with all the energy I have as it is....it's way past supper time. Don't say anything too exciting til I get back.....
