Just came across this thread.

It was me he wrote to and I said I am writing to someone.
Which is the truth.
The poster suggested I should change my profile.
I replied it was an excellent idea, but I won’t follow through.
He didn’t ask why.
That’s it in a nutshell.
I am writing to someone. Most of us are writing at one time or another to someone. Taking partner search seriously, I only direct my attention to one person at a time. This can take a week, 2 weeks … or whatever … until I figured out whether there is enough bases to continue.
Should I change my profile on a weekly basis from “seeking partner” to “taken and looking for friends only”? Doesn’t make sense.
Wouldn’t it be like putting a house on the market, and while negotiating with one potential buyer withdraw all the ads?
Its too time consuming writing extensively to every Tom, Dick, and Harry.
Furthermore, wouldn’t I be writing to someone, he would have received the reply: "Thank you for writing to me, but I am looking for someone within my age group”.
You Ladies know what cute replies we then end up receiving. “Oh, age doesn’t matter to me”, “I prefer mature women” blar blar…
Heck, but it does matter to me.
I want someone of my level of life experience, someone who knows what I am talking off, when I refer to something having happened when I was 12 or 14 years old…whereas he at the time was in nappies and wouldn’t recall.
However, dear readers please note I am one of the 9 out of the 10
