How right you are..the music industry pours out modern garbage by the ream.
I hate rap and acid and house and all that electronic boom ,,boom,,boom beat,,its everywhere and boring.
You cannot find radio stations in GB that play old rock and roll or old blues or country.
They sell CD's wrapped..you have no idea of the content..some of it is worthless crap and a waste of money.

So ,,download a few songs,,if you like what you hear,,do as the Kansan say's,,buy it,,as way of thanks and keep up the good work.
If its crap..delete it.
But at least your not filling a corperates pocket for something you don't like.

As for ITTunes,,,,,,this crowd of bastards decide I have ask their permission to play MY music,,(paid for) on my computer,,on MY music program,,(I wrote it and own it)
I'm damned if I'm going to click an agreement (which has to be illegal) to play my own stuff.

Music industry...clean it up and earn respect..don't demand it.
Could not have said it better myself. I agree and I do not think many would disagree.

Just out of curiosity...

who gets the money if you download of a paying site?

When teaching dancing..although i bought the CD,s I also had to pay for the right to use it...

restaurants,,hairdressers,,stores ,,,etc...anyone playing music has to pay ...

noone ever asked which artists I used so they could get their share...

so who gets the money....confused

There's already a sur-tax on blank media such as CD's, DVD's and cassettes which is supposed to go to the artists. If my neighbour asked to borrow one of my CD's, is that illegal ?

It is legal to lend a CD to them. The "crime" is in reproducing the music without permission of those who "created" the sound you listen to; same way it would be to photocopy a book. So if they copy your CD, that then is illegal.

What bothers me is that the record companies will gleefully sell to you blank media and the equipment to record same with, yet they campaign when we "steal" music by copying it!

On downloaded music, royalties will go to the usual; songwriter, artist, publisher and the site will take their cut, as does your states taxman. Difference is, you are only buying one or tow songs and you provide the media and inlay if needed and no shipping, hence a lower fee.

"Copyright laws and laws pertaining to patents and inventions protect original works of authorship and inventions. Individuals who reproduce, distribute copies, receive copies, publicly perform or display works or inventions other than their own and without the consent of the owners or holders of rights, or their authorized agents, in original works of authorship or inventions, may be in violation of copyright, patent or other intellectual property infringement."

I just found that on google and I guess it could be misconstrued at the point of 'holders of rights' - possibly that means if you have bought it you may lend it to a neighbour - I really dont know though dunno

whats a $1? come on people, pay for you music... etc

on the odd occasion i have had to use limewire or similar due to the artits not being that popular , the quality has sucked.

its stealing, no matter how u sugar coat it. You wouldnt steal milk from a shop would ya?

Rob
Talking about stealing... do you own a DVD recorder at home? Does your computer have a CD / DVD burner, ? Have you ever burned a CD or a DVD from somebody else's? That's also stealing... Have you ever recorded a show on DVD to watch it later because you were going out? That's also stealing.

So, unless the artists and music companies crack down on the big manufacturers of equipment and software developers I don't see how it is going to be stopped.

My son used to download from Ares, I really don't know if it's illegal, I don't like it because it is shareware and leaves your PC open for viruses, so I blocked it.

in the beginning there was shareware

and it was good

now like every wonderful opportunity there are those who take advantage
for spying sell stuff
or to pass viruses-just to see if they can?

i dunno
people say its ok and justify why certain d/l is ok
but these same people are enraged that in the past
many great artists ended up with nothing in the end
and died in poverty...

was that their responsibility for signing the contracts?
well, to a great degree those initially were the only contracts available-
until THE PUBLIC became involved and said hey-we will buy this-its good
then artists were able to make demands-they figgered out they were a commodity

so either its ok for them to get paid as a direct result of their gifts or its not

we cant have it both ways
we dont know what kind of contracts record companies hold on each artist-...

they make a product they deserve to be paid-
all of them

we all work to get paid
