What made you successful?

Mostly yes.

Realizing I don't control my emotions when drinking.

Mostly I have. I may have one or two drinks every six months or so. My brother ^ can attest to that laugh

This can be read into however one sees fit, but getting my life back provided some pretty stout motivation. smoking

I hardly drink at all really. I don't in the week... I have to be on the ball the next morning, sooooo many meetings!! frustrated Plus I have to drive. I have the odd glass of wine at the weekend......

If it becomes a problem, I am sure half the battle is acknowledging there is a problem... then take any help that's available?

My doctor told me to quit drinking, smoking, having sex, and eating greasy foods...

It was the worst 20 minutes of my life!

Been drinking for over 30 years, so I ask you this, I quit every day and then start again, I have not been sick for over ten years, although sometimes I get some bad ice and it makes my stomach twitchy. I play almost scratch golf with a few drinks in my belly. So if you all have a problem drinking, don't do it. I enjoy impeccable health and that's my story and I'm sticking to it. I'm fortunate to live in a gated community where if I drink I can drive my golf cart home. It's not about getting drunk it's about being relaxed drinking at your leisure in moderation. It has health benefits, trust me but I may be the exception. No flu shots no colds, flu and I work among school children and for a large school district. People worry about using a phone that the students use and I have to maintain this stuff. I just do not get sick, is it the alcohol or my healthy lifestyle? you tell me Doc.

I'm 59 and I live a healthy lifestyle with my diet, exercise and of course drinking in moderation. You would not know I had a drink, trust me when I knock in a twenty foot putt for a birdie. Want to tee it up? Bring your wallet. I realize there are those that can not function with alcohol and those are the one's that shouldn't drink.

I used to drink, Heavily. Did you ever see that shirt that says "Instant Asshole, Just Add Alcohol"?? That was me. It is extremely rare for me to imbibe nowadays. And I cut myself off at 1.

firstllight Strasburg, Virginia USA
I have given it up completely as I am terribly allergic; makes me break out in stupidity!
I have replaced alcohol with ice cream. Not quite the same buzz but gives me pleasure.

Hmmm it seems I may have replaced sex with ice cream too.
Oh my!
