I have given it up completely as I am terribly allergic; makes me break out in stupidity!
I have replaced alcohol with ice cream. Not quite the same buzz but gives me pleasure.

Hmmm it seems I may have replaced sex with ice cream too.
Oh my!

I might have a drink once in a blue moon but for the most part yes I have given it up.

The motivation to give up alcohol for me was simple.....hit by drunk driver not once but twice. Not to mention an ex that thought a golf club was a needed part of a drunken rant. he chose the club....I chose life without him.....and alcohol.

I didn't drink for ten years.. not because *I* had a problem.. (at all). but because of the people around me that did.

Nowadays they are both gone.. so I do whatever whenever I like.. its quite refreshing actually..

Sometimes I MIGHT have a glass hot mulled wine in the evening.. (in the winter)

In the summer my friends come around for lunch in the garden and we might drink some icey vodka and cranberry.

Sometimes my friends come here for dinner and we get ABSOLUTELY hammered playing my (glass) game of Tequila snakes and ladders (wearing tiaras) and playing truth or dare.

Sometimes I might fancy a honey and ginger Martini.. or an apple one.. or raspberry or a durrrty one (a la Sinatra) laugh

On a cold night by the fire SOMETIMES I put Baileys in my coffee.

and sometimes I don't have anything for MONTHS.

Just depends dunno

i gave myself a real kick up the ass when i was in my early 20's. i had very little money but the first thing i always headed for was the drinks isle. i found myself compromising more important things just so i could buy a few beers. worst of all was when i went with the intention of buying beer and realised that my cat needed food and remember weighing up the options of either feeding my cat or buying alcohol. i realised that this shouldn't even be an issue and the mere fact i was making it an issue meant i had a serious problem. suffice to say, i did the right thing and never looked back. god knows where i'd have ended up if it wasn't for that cat kiss

I quit when I discovered I was going to have my son. He was my motivation. I still have a few socially, when I have someone to be social with ..but that I don't see a problem with .
