Isn't that a kind of contradiction in terms?

Why would anybody join a dating site then go to all the trouble of portraying themselves in a negative light?

Maybe it's just that some people really are mean and unapproachable!

No Jan....it is not a contridiction, Some want love and affection so much, but don't know how to ask for it. Or how to accept compliments and love.

And as Roseofsharon stated it's a defence mechanism. But yes, many of us are indeed mean and unapproachable!!
