I'am a christian...

and proud to say a happy one not a burdened follwer of the fire and brimstone brigade.

some may not believe it, but i have sen miracles and blessing that have gone far and above coincedence or scientifically explainable.

and have no time for those who would judge before they travel along with thier victim of judging...

so no debate here just a Love and Belief that i have a saviour and a he is the son of God and without him i never stood a chance to begin with.
so I'am thankful for the price that was paid on my account.
Well same here for sure. i believe very much in my savior Jesus Christ and he has done some amazing things for me as well....and sill does, i have seen lots of miricles as well and yes He is very real...and knows me....

i was raised in a unsociable high society Baptist Church which made me as i got older go non-denominational .

Just got tired of hearing if i missed one Sunday of church i was going to hell.
May you're in Fawell territory...lol

Southern Baptist isn't as strict as the Independent/Fundamental Baptist's are. At least with Southern Baptist I could wear pants for activites...lol The church I was attending (& still a member of) preaches from the pulpit that women shouldn't be wearing pants & even when they have outings like skating the girls are expected to wear a skirt or dress....which also means that females can't play on the churches softball team.

The non-denominational that I'm going to is pretty sound biblically, I just have to look past the contemporary music service (I tend to like the hymns that I grew up with better than the praise songs & holding a hymnal gives me something to do with my hands...not into the hand raising).

i agree some can get quite focused on apperal and miss so much in other areas.
i went to a bible camp many years in the summers they preached against shorts and bathing suits and would not allow us to swim....
And i always wondered if clothes were the problem and we children loved water why didn't we just swim naked.

i have had many things that were accepted as moral for many years prior to the 70s that were preached against. and most were based on appearance more than spirit.

i may not always seem to be the norm for christian behavior... but i can garuntee my heart is pure and full of love... and that is what Jesus spoke the most about in his life.

i may not always look like a "good Christian" on the outside... but I'am sure if anyone could look in my heart they will find my cup runneth over.

I went to a catholic church when I was growing up, later I went to a baptist church which was on the corner where I lived as it was close to go, I then went to the mormon church when I married my second husband. Now I do not go to a church as I do not know which one to go to, but I do believe in jesus that he died for our sins and without believing in him we will not be saved.

lol...yeah...been around awhile. The strictness was ok when I was a teenager, but once I became an adult it seemed to me that what I wore or didn't wear should be my own conviction. Can you imagine as a teenager in Hawaii having to wear a t-shirt over your swim suit? And for girls it had to be a one piece. The boys had to wear a t-shirt with their swim trunks.

To this day I wear a dress/skirt to church even though the majority of women in the church I currently go to wear pants (& some wear shorts in the summer)...I just can't bring myself to do that for a church service....but skating, hiking, bowling, car wash...I dress appropriately for me...lol

Yeah, when I tell some people about it I get strange looks. One of the principals in our district also conducts church services...not certain which religious affiliation he is or even if he's ordained or not...but he thought it pretty strict too.

I could ignore it for the most part, but there were times when it caused some conflict between me & my mom because I'd want to wear slacks to something & she'd beg me to wear a dress...I'd give in for her.

But that is such a nice thing to do out of respect for your mom...still a nice act on your part. that is one good thing that came out of it though.

Well, there was also another reason for me switching churches...lol Parental pressure. Not for me to switch, but I felt like I had to report to them if I missed a Sunday. My mom would actually call to find out if I was ok. Told her that now that I'm back in my own place there may be times that I don't go (I went every Sunday while staying with them just to keep the peace). There used to be a time when I wouldn't think of missing a Sunday...then I stayed out of church for a few years (still prayed & leaned on God), and there are just times when going is more depressing than not going. So now that I'm in my own place & going to a different church I don't have to worry about someone keeping track of me.

My sister went to a catholic school all her life and some of those nuns of long a go were so strict... i don't think they got the entire message of God . Yet some nuns where so kind and good. i guess there is good and bad in everything . My sister is really a good person but when she got out of the private school she went wild in a way with freedom......lolrolling on the floor laughing

yes exactly and when you point out that God accepted a bet and gambled with Job... just about everyone seemed to miss that part... when the deal was made... what else do you call it.
Emotion.. some believe god is such an angry or one way only kind of devine being.

But he made us in his image... so look at Gods emotions...love,hate,anger,pride,indifference many of what we live with is a hared feeling... we are just not as wisw as the Father.

So many things are taught through the pulpit and the word is skipped all around and noone (pastor) seems to stick JUST WITH the scripture they are reading from...take and jump all over history and you can bend it to look how you wish by adding from one time and taking from another...

yes again i will add...

in that moment when job was down...God set him straight... saying Who are you to question you who do not know the winds direction or how many blades of grass or the number of sand...
very profound and still hold that same power today as it did 5000 years ago.

how could one not be offended by the words... it is an accurate account of history not just an opinion.head banger

Well it is only between you and God and when i miss Church even now I often think about it But i have to say there was a conflict i was going trough and I missed church for a while and one day i just had this overpowering need to go to church and i knew God wanted me too can't explain it. and sure enough wasn't that message a message meant for me as he hit everythought I had and question i had right on the nose. He knew what I was thinking about etc. and i really needed that pasters preaching that day it was as if he knew exactly everything that i had been thinking and trying to work out in my mind and thus i was reunited with My Lord and I have gotton all my answers to all the questions in my head that I ask privately to the lord and thoughts that are not even questions all clarrified by God...Really its true ...Can't explain it but God really works miracles for sure...its neat... So i wait for him all the time and He has never let me down for sure...
