Thread Manners !! Handling a thread you post ..

Posted: Dec 16, 2007, 11:11 AM CST
Now all of us have seen enough threads ... stupid, boring, interesting, irritating, debatable , laughable and yes condemning or praising.

Regardless of the type of thread .. what is according to you.. a good way to OP a thread .. answer to each reply ? selective replies ? say thankyou ?

I think that a reply is only necessary when a post requires it or another bit of information might be added. Also, the person that starts the post should reply enough times to keep it on track.

Hi Riya!

i dont worry if the op poses a question and never even returns

and if i post a thread ........ i will only reply randomly

to reply to all the replies ...........ohhhhhhhhh far too time consuming for me

to be honest ........ if the thread goes on for a few pages ...... i dont even read all the replies

cheering

If you can't answer each post at least acknowledge the people who wrote something and answer in one post vs. individually!!!!!!!!!thumbs up

What not to do....Leave the thread you started and say nothing...thumbs down

Replying when you have nothing to say just makes the post boring. But I can't believe that anything you'd have to say would be boring, Riya.

grin

This must be the single most frustrating aspect of posting any type of non-frivolous thread; to have it constantly interrupted by those who actually have not a single coherent thought in their tiny brains...nothing to say that would add any substance to the topic...go to one of the more juvenile threads about the one above or below you...or the the old stand-by's dealing with never before asked, never revealed before sexual matters, found exclusively only on CS...(!) or page after page of people saying hello to each other(never thinking to simply use the e-mails for all personal matters or the chat features), leaving the threads alone for those who are trying to discuss a topic. Rudeness rules.

I've been wondering this my self. Good question here's to you

Usually I treat threads as conversation and expect people to participate. If there are no interest I see no reason to push the issue. I try to keep every one happy and try to respond to everyone until I loose interest my self. I don't have any special attachments to my threads but I review them ones in a while smile

a thread is a topic to talk abut
not a place for greeting every one (it wil lead to go of topic)

personally i will send an e-mail thanking for the input

on the other side, on threads that ae jokes, i can just acknowledge for the post
