Dear Ray, you have gone too far!

To place oneself in a position of superiority over another simply invites downfall.

All the more so when it is our female allies!

You will learn that it's is pointless to imply one sex has greater or lesser value over another...it mearly invites un-necessary contention.

Pardon me for saying this, but a TRULY intellectually capable person should be aware of their limits - the limits of such a flawed vessel as we ALL are ultimately.

Surely the apogee of all knowledge and learning is to seek peaceful relations with all whom we encounter?

To seek amity and genuine ease of interaction with all IS all my man!cheers

Debate is a healthy learning medium...vital to the inquiring mind Blue.

This one has served it's purpose however...the truth must be stated and we can all move on!

As I said in one of my earlier posts, it's fascinating to observe how different people respond...I love that side of the forums.

I could never seek a relationship with any woman who GENUINELY believed in female superiority. Such a person would be boorish in the extreme, and deeply flawed in their reasoning.

Likewise many women view it the same way regarding men.laugh

Anyway, we can all be friends again...I hope!grin

Echoing BEB's comments.

Your definition of playing devils advocate was not mine yesterday, I just thought he was arguing for the sake of arguing and I think he still is.

no actually he told me he was going to post this thread and do this before it appeared, and he said to me he didn't really believe what he was going to say but wanted to see how women would answer the question are women equal to men 'while under the distinct scruitiny of sexual descrimination' and the heat turned up to use his words .i think he's just naughty reallyscold scold professor i like him, but maybe if i had been caught of my gaurd i might have reacted in the same way. i think it is beacuse phychologically its a question that already infers women are not equal because it is a comparision of woman to men and not the other way around, or that is how i always feel when it is asked anyway

Denente, you have been the voice of reason on this post while I have had to descend into madness (familiar territory for me and my method). However, women who have read these posts should be happy to know (I hope) that before I made the 'are women equal to men thread' I sent a post to my friend Yumie explaining what I was about to do and why (to do otherwise would be suicide).

I wanted to see how women would react to the question of sexual equality under the infuriating tones and implications pertaining to a distinct and clear ‘accusatory lack’ of equality (indeed more like ‘an accusation of INequality’ in disguise); I wanted to see how women, like soldiers ‘under fire’ would react to counter this as though under male-dominant societal/social suppression and its accompanying overtones itself? . . . level-headed? . . . mad and filled with rage? . . .unable to handle it? . . . dispassionately and calmly (and therefore most effectively – I was indeed surprised by some) . . . etc . . .

Speaking of surprise, the element of surprise has unfortunately gone, but had I had the time yesterday I would indeed have followed the posts up with those following points I assure you (but maybe I was saved by circumstance, because from the reaction I got from the original points some women [one in particular] utterly lost it) Now they're calm and cool under fire but the very affect I was striving for is therefore gone, because now my 'victims' are ‘in the know’ . . . yesterday they were fuming and seething and indeed it was hornets nest . . .

My apologies for using you as guinea pigs, but, hey, you all practically volunteered I just laid out the bait – and even warned you that it was bait so I make no apology for that part.

As you will see from Yumie, I do not actually believe that man is 'greater' than woman, however having said that, I DO believe man and woman are not equal and that the notion is in itself idiotic. However I wanted to see women's ‘rational’ ideas FOR equality - itself irrational. But my thinking is that such a subject posted without controversy, is an invitation to a load of men trying to get laid (like Charlos using chromosomal scientism to prove women are superior to men –psh, what are you stupid or what?) would have just turned up without really causing anything interesting to happen and therefore anything to observe in the way of a ‘truth’. The truth is always revealed I am afraid under a strong emotion/s. And controversy is a rhetorical tactic even used in perfectly level-headed academic debate and it works.

As for limits, Denente . . . I don't know any limits and don’t intend to learn any. I have never cared to learn ‘limits’ nor care to.

You speak well sir!cheers

It was indeed fascinating...I learned lots from the various reactions of those women who reacted with spite and personal and mocking diatribes.

But several were graceful and composed...and this is a fine thing.

Limits? Ray, you are quite right. In the quest for knowledge and understanding, there should be no limits. I simply thought that some of your most recent comments were a little demeaning.

Thanks Ray...and good health to you!wine

So, for the record, this is what I really think of women and why she has been suppressed by man and why she is still suppressed by man and why he fears her independence from him and she not hers from his:

You see, women have been treated by men like rare birds, who, loosing their way, have come down among them from an elevation to which they may never themselves go: as something delicate, fragile, wild, strange, sweet, inspiring, animating - but something also which must be cooped up to prevent flying away.

Ha ha.

That’s the truth. I think woman is the only true paradise a man will ever know on this earth of endless privation and physical affliction, ceaseless misery and human suffering . . .

However . . . I am sceptical whether man is the only paradise a woman will ever know . . . and hence . . . that higher elevation down from which she and her flock flew . . .

Why are there no female philosophers? Why have there hitherto BEEN no female philosohpers?
Woman is not yet even known. If I may be so bold, she doesn’t even know herself yet. And thus man is waiting anxiously to learn all about this rare bird from afar who came down from some higher elevation to share plight with him on this cursed earth.
I, for one, am one of these waiting men.
I almost have a Doctorate in philosophy and have not studied one single female philosopher who is considered to have contributed anything to 'our' posterity.
Woman is not yet even known. And does not even yet know herSELF.

The difference is that man DOES know himself, and indeed, in philosophy, his worst area has been his understanding of 'woman'

cheers I am aware of how demeaning those comments were. They were a little over the top, admittedly. But so am I.

I learned that there have been female philosophers? I am almost a Doctor of philosophy and have not studied one of them.

What does that say?

I wonder what I will dream up of next . . .

Now you're digging yourself out of a hole but I'm glad you learned something over the past couple of days.

Next time you dream of playing devils advocate do some research beforehand so that you can do it more skilfully. Oh, and learn to be more of a people person then perhaps you may get away with it.
