I'm from Michigan, yet have never worn hunter orange. I don't necessarily have anything against it, just not my bag.

I used to just sit back and wait for the news stories of inebriation and shooting each other.

A good example of what goes around coming backlaugh

As A hunter I find it's not about the kill or the stalking but being one with nature.

As for trying to explain it fully I can't, It's either a part of you or it's not.
Totally agree. It's hard to explain, but once you've been there...you'll always want to go again.

And yes.....I too love to hunt!!!!!!

Here in Montana, I do hunt and am not afraid to say so. I hunt for the meat, it is healthy. Much cheaper than buying in the store. Some here do it for the wall mount, I don't agree with that. But I have learned that if we didn't have hunters, a lot of the animals here would die from weather, sickness, and age. So there is pros and cons to it. And yes, here in Montana woman to hunt and hold rifles

Ok so I'm a hypocrite. I do eat meat but if I had to hunt for it I'd be a vegetarian. When I eat meat I'm not thinking about the fact that I'm eating an animal. I would like to try and give it up but I do love chicken and beef :( I just don't understand when hunters tell me they love nature and bucks are beautiful animals. So why do they enjoy killing them?????
I don't think it is about the joy of killing the animal...I think it is about providing for yourself and getting back to nature...

within my family, there are lots of hunters...they provide the rest of us some of their bounty....

hope that helps

I'm all for that. Getting back with nature that is... Means to achieve that aren't justifiable. Firing a gun requires very little skill there for challenge is non existent. A bow or a spear equalizes playing fields a little.
I'm not a vegetarian by any means. I eat meat and wear leather. Still I don't approve of the means that meat or leather got to me. Certainly I would prefer to kill that cow on my own and face emotional consequences. Robing a living creature of it's life is horrible thing to do but it is a natural cycle. We live in a society where everything is mass produced. Humans have surpassed natural laws long ago and with invention of gun powder we're capable of exterminating every mammal on this planet with in days. So obviously that wont work. Even though we're as a species can synthesise every nutrient we need to survive we still rape natural environment to sustain out needs.
I don't approve of mass slaughter and I don't approve sports hunting. I do like meat and leather. In this society I don't have much choice. Unless I buy several acres of land and sever all contact with humanity...

I'll confess, I think a deer is too pretty to shoot. Call me a weenie. I'm not a hunter. Don't own a shotgun, but I love fried rabbit. Not sure what that says, if anything?
Weenie.

Well someone had to do it.

Just like my brother says, it's either a part of you or it's not. We weren't brought up to think of getting trophy's for the wall, just to put food on the table

Few things beat the thrill of facing down an angry cottontail. Those beady, angry eyes seem to glare into the very pitts of your soul, just daring you to pull the trigger of your pellet gun, knowing damn well that if you miss, or your shot doesn't hit a vital organ, you're history.
That's one reason I always drink heavily when I hunt: it takes the edge of my terror, and provides the moral fortitude to do what has to be done.

Just one hunter's perspective.
Don't look at this guy as the typical hunter. It's those like him who give the decent ones a bad rep

BINGO!!!!!! I've lost count of the number of times I've had birds and squirrels sit on a part of me while I'm in full camo on stand during deer archery season. It's a real thrill looking at them close up while trying not to move a musclegrin

Because they are violent and cruel. JMO
No, not cruel. As a responsible hunter, I try to make the best of my shot so the animal suffers as little as possible.

If not for hunters, you would have deer in your vegetable and flower gardens. We help keep the herds at a manageable size. The money we spend on licenses, hunting gear and such, we do it because we know it's going into wildlife conservation.

How many non-hunters do you know who put money into taking care of the wildlife?
