True indeed.

We measure ouselves in our own eyes each day as we see ourselves in the mirror and smile at who we are ...
We measure ourselves .. by the love we share and is bestowed upon us in return with warmth and care ..
We measure by the smiles we spread and the pain we take.

We aspire to be.. CONTENT !!! Somethings you are born with or have them while the vital ones you learn and imbibe. Life is a journey the beauty of which lies in our eyes and hands to behold .. beauty is diverse and multifaceted , words would be insufficient to describe it all.

So , a contest is not what would describe anyone.
Words of great wisdom, yet too many are too much in this world of modeling after the commercial dream, advertising, magazines etc.

When there are millions of people on the planet we indeed will have all kinds of them.

Imagine , if all of us we soooo real it would be so boring. They do not seek what they donot know .. how can they miss something they arent aware of . hug

Take this lightly, but I have a problem with Ms., or Mr., winner in any context within the contests on this site. Popularity and looks are Darwinian no matter how they are presented. We are not afforded the luxury of being in each other's physical company here. For every winner, there must be losers.

Attached to being single, there has to be fleeting moments of self esteem. A 2 dimensional pageant will only leave some feeling less confident. It is not necessary. Someone, tomorrow, male or female, could join CS and blow everyone away. To what end ? Remember high-school, when there was that hot chick, and the handsome quarterback. You just knew that they'd be voted prom King & Queen. It was a given. We accepted it. We were young. We are now adults and have learned that all that glitters is not gold.

Why a contest ? We are all equal, slim, fat, bald, eloquent or not. Sometimes when I see 800 views and only 18 posts to a subject leaning towards popularity, I understand why they would not enter the arena. Darwin made a good point, but I would think that we have evolved beyond beautiful feathers.

The culling of CS'ers is not the intent of what this site is about.
thumbs up thank you thumbs up you said so much better than i could have .........if i had the nerve.

The only one that knows me is me...I am content with that and I don't need a vote to tell me who I am or what I am...I am thankful for that...For that reason I won't vote for others because in my eyes it means little or nothing...Popularity contests are just that...If popularity makes you who you are then you have bigger problems than a vote can solve!!!!!!!!!!

thumbs up

I’ve got no problem with the competitions. All said and done what you are saying here is valid, but competition should never been prevented by those unwilling to compete.
Those who compete know the rules of the game.
I know the people who end up in these polls do not choose to be, maybe ‘shadow-lover’ can go about it in a more tactful way by posting rounds and asking people if they want to compete in a round or something.
I don’t think anyone who has actually been in them has raised a complaint. In fact, rather the inverse appears to be the case.
Those who are NOT in them are complaining.

"Those who are NOT in them are complaining". Hundreds are intimidated, the views tell all. So many view the forum threads, and feel shy for whatever reason, no matter what the topic. It's not a matter of " sour grapes", it is a matter of humanity and conditioning via media and what we are told is beautiful, charming, etc.

Is this issue peripheral to the point of this thread, or is this thread about a plea to end the Ms/Mr CS polls?

Because I am in opposition to it if it is.

Maybe we could just dispense with them and crown ourselves queen and queen? What a lovely couple we'd make, don't you agree (with our contrasting hair colors, etc.)?
