I've just read it too.

Apparently it was a suicide bomber who shot her before blowing himself up.

Is this only of interest to the Europeans?

I'm surprised there are so few comments here.

I share the same opinion Riya, her name did become synonymous with corruption despite being vindicated, but General Musharraf doesn't exactly inspire confidence does he?

It is still very sad and worrying for the rest of the world.

It would seem to not be totally unexpected, could cause a lot of trouble, we will have to wait

I will comment the same as I did on the other thread...I have been following this story with interest ever since the so called emergency rule was put in place....

OMG!!!!!!!!! No doubt it was General Musharraf who ordered her killed since elections are in February!!!!!!!! He may have stepped down from the military but he no doubt still commands it from the sidelines...The man who declared emergency rule and suspended the constitution cause of terrorism when it was his military gunning people down....I guess he has one less opponent now...Disgusting!!!!!!!!

blues

May she Rest In Peace....angel angel angel

worrying ????????????????

Thats an understatement. What worries me is till dat eno one has actually been able to get to that par tof the world for you know what reasons for world safety. It speaks volumes.

Neither are innocent .. i mean she is was now. The whole system is berserk by now. I am against brutality and violence . But what happens when you wipe out families alltoegther. The vengence strikes when one least expects it. There is no scale to quantify what is bad.

Sad day when such a event happens. Sadder will be the future events in Pakistan and region in part because of this. When terrorists get a
succesful attack, it only encourages them.

Hard to say if Marrasheff or his gov't was involved. But seems like way to many people had easy and free access to her. And that is a security issue that the Pakistani gov't needs to be investigated on. Security is in part that of a gov't for leading party officials even in a minority or opposition party. If many had free access to her, then I would look
inside the Pakistani gov't for persons that had responsilbity for security for her.

But Pakistan is not better for her passing. Corruption aside. She was a
leader that many Pakistani wanted in the future. She was strongly anti terrorism and pro western. For womens rights. And did not deserve to
die in such a manner for holding such believes.

This is terrorism at its worst. Killing for beliefs and beliefs alone. She was not in power and not elected to power. Those who ordered it, those who planned it, and those that conducted should all have a firey place to visit soon enough.

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan (Reuters) - Pakistan opposition leader Benazir Bhutto was assassinated by a suicide bomber on Thursday, plunging the nuclear-armed country into chaos ahead of a general election she hoped to win.

Her death triggered a wave of anger in her native Sindh province, where she enjoyed huge popular support. In its capital, Karachi, angry crowds started fires and fired shots.
