Phobias. Fears.
What are you afraid of? I had a very interesting conversation this evening with a friend (a man) who is a commitment-phobe. Every woman he has a relationship with is in a relationship that is almost destined to die a rather sad and painful death because, in his own words, he can only go so far and then he freezes up and starts to drive her away (whoever the "her" is). In this case, the "her" is a good friend of mine, and so is he. She loves him. He loves her. Yet he is starting to do things that will surely sabotage their relationship. And he recognizes this as a pattern within himself that he says he doesn't like but yet cannot rid himself of. So, I wonder....do we have fears (phobias) that we truly cannot escape, or are there things that we fear and yet we find comfort in them as well? Are our fears so strong that we cannot rid ourselves of them, or do we simply embrace our fears? (i.e., we do not WANT to do something, so we claim to be afraid of it?) Is it easier or better to simply take our phobias and adapt our lives around them, or should we not try to fight them? I ask this question as one who has many fears of my own (none of which I shall try to conquer), but they do not involve human interaction or love or commitment. I am afraid of dentists, roller coasters, snakes, heights, and a few other things, but nothing scares me about dealing with men. I wonder, I am perplexed at times, I doubt some things, I question myself, etc....but I am not scared. What about you? Do you fear interaction with men/women (beyond the superficial or the easy lay)? Are you phobic? What do you fear?

I hope your fears don't include masked men, J. laugh

I don't know if it's exactly a phobia, but I fear (among many other things) dying before I've accomplished what I wish to accomplish. Nietzsche perhaps said it best: "Die at the right time."wave wine

fear that if i get too excited the blood loss may cause me to pass outlaugh

not afraid of the normal stuff
do not fear heights,spiders,snakes,furry animals,clowns,enclosed spaces,etc etc

the only thing i can think of when i think fear is being in total darkness Including Dark Water and hear or feel a noise or something brush me...
I fear of dying and Not knowing before hand what killed me... Weird maybe?
But it is my only fear.

I have climbed towers when i worked as a Cable TV contractor over 300ft with just a lock wheel and a safety waist strap.
Crawled under homes with snakeskins hanging out of the insulation and plumbing.
Met many furry animals in and under buildings and homes.
Spiders i have wiped hundreds off my clothing...
Bees, scorpions, fire ants all kinds of insects or bugs...

And i have dealt with many clowns in and out of costumes...LOL
