Well a viewpoint it is, not one that I share, and I wouldn't send it to any of my friends as the writer suggests.

This letter from a house wife was posted here before.
I think an Iraqi housewife would probably say the same, or maybe
even more as her country is torn apart for wmd.
It's the "I don't care" attitude that stinks.
She cares when it costs her more money to run her car but
does not give a shit about human life, even Iraqi's have blood running through their veins.

Shite threadthumbs down

It's a chain, feel worse about what you know very little about, letter that was posted.
Yeah, I've seen it before and others like it from both sides of the fence. They are all basically the same.

It annoys me, as I am a proud American, for sure. But letters like this try to pigeonhole all of us into one opinion, and if we do not hold that opinion, we are somehow less patriotic. It's just an ignorant, silly chain letter, pandering to the basest of our instincts.
.............BINGO....................

Were you high on the complaint list when Sadam was killing 300,000 Kurds? Call me curious? Or when his boys were dragging women off the street to rape?

I'm sure you were... laugh

What if someone doesn't believe in a "creator"? Why do the founding fathers make no mention of a "creator" in the document that all our laws are based on? There is no mention of a "Creator" in the Bill of Rights, nor anywhere else in the Constitution.

The unalienable Human Rights spelled out in the US Declaration of Independence are not the same as the rights given in the Bill of Rights. Our laws are not based on the Declaration.

Irrelevant. I am not discussing the merits of believing in a magic being that lives forever and is human but is not, that grants wishes if you pray REAL hard to him.

I have the same rights as you do in the United States, as you believe, and I choose not to. That's the beauty of our Constitution, we are all equal in our rights, and we are not founded in religion, just a freedom to practice religion.

See, that does not matter. We are not founded on what Congress does after breakfast. All that matters is what the Constitution says. And it does NOT say anything about "under god" in there.

I wish they never would have added that silly "under god" back in the 1950s. laugh

There should be clear information on this but so far from what I see, the whole thing is still unclear. The Iranians had nerve agents that caused the damaging symtoms reported. I know that the Bush adminitration reported it was a fact that Sadam did it. Irac had mustard gas and nerve gas but Iran supposedly had gas that was more consistebt with the damage inflicted. I retract the question. It can't be answered yet.

I was discussing the Regan quote, about us being a "Nation under god". You mentioned the unalienable rights, that's how we got on the "rights" thing.

I know you're not saying that atheists don't have rights, I was arguing the point of where our rights come from.

We did get off topic!!!laugh

I agree. The seperation of church and state should be absolute..Otherwise it is catering to a specific religion and that would not be fair.

There is no seperation of church and state clause.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.
We still have to swear to god when we take the oath to testify and the pledge of aliegance is always a contoversy.
This is all off topic but to adress the topic, a wide spectrum of considerations are to be made.
