Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.
We still have to swear to god when we take the oath to testify and the pledge of aliegance is always a contoversy.
This is all off topic but to adress the topic, a wide spectrum of considerations are to be made.

Seen it before, and still hate it. It's the whole "I don't care" attitude that I have a problem with.

Like this: "And oh, by the way, I've noticed that sometimes it's spelled "Koran" and other times "Quran." Well, Jimmy Crack Corn and-you guessed it- I don't care !!"

That just makes the author of this chain letter sound ignorant. And, actually, she probably is.

Here is another quote about jeesus and a soldier: "One died for your soul, the other for your freedom"

And, I asked this last time...Exactly how are my freedoms being protected in Iraq? Are the terrorists coming over here and taking away my freedom to assemble? My Freedom of Speech? Of course not. The soldiers are not protecting my freedoms, they are fighting a war of choice, that does not benefit them, and does not benefit me.

"If we ever forget that we're One Nation Under God, then we will be a nation gone under." Also by.. Ronald Reagan

We are not a nation under "God" Show me where in the Constitution it states that? I can't ever seem to find it in there.
I'll tell U what they are protecting U - U ungrateful... they are protecting our rights to a free economy, Ur right to drive a car, Ur right to have Ur food packaged in plastic, Ur rights to oppose the drilling of oil in california, alaska, utah, florida etc. They are protecting the rights of every environmentalist in the world to object to the use of Nuclear technology in America while France has run away with the idea. Sounds to me like U are the "Ignorant one," These are just a few things that all of U who object to this and every thing George Bush does to keep the products U use in Ur daily lives - in Ur daily lives. And I don't think U would care about the Quran koran kerin either if U were in a hospital and there were no plastics to keep U alive. Our total dependency on foriegn oil is the result of bad energy policy driven by Idealists who don't have any answers to the new problems they create. Our for fathers didn't even know what oil was let alone that they would have to put it into our constitution to protect our right to have it. Maybe they were considereed Ignorant also.D'oh!

Were you high on the complaint list when Sadam was killing 300,000 Kurds? Call me curious? Or when his boys were dragging women off the street to rape?

I'm sure you were...
Yes I was. I was in Gulf war one and I would have gone all the way to Bahgdad then if the american people would have let me. But no.....thumbs down

Wow. Let me answer "ur" post.

The Iraqi's were going to take away my freedom to drive a car? And just how were they going to do that? I'm curious. And the Soldiers do NOT protect my right to dissent, the Contituion does. Soldiers shoot people, the laws of the United States of America protect my "freedoms."

Let's not get this all confused. I can tell by your masterful grasp of the English language that U are a very intelligent man, but let me simplify it for you.

Our "for Fathers" put a framework of laws in place, and we work from there. Oil is not a right, it is a commodity. We trade it, sell it and use it. Not a right. George Bush could have never existed and I'd still have access to oil. "U" know why? Because people thaty drill oil need to sell it, adn I need to use it.

Anyway, I commend you for a well thought out post, my friend!applause rolling eyes

War is very profitable ... making money is a way of life in this country. So the cost of life can actually be measured in US Dollars. Sad but true.

Ur freedom to drive a car is being protected in iraq by trying to maintain the region. U may not agree with the method but until U find an alternate source for these resources and/or can bring stability to the region through an alternative means that U should be thankful that someone is at least trying to keep the oil flowing when we have shut off our own spigits. Gimme oil or give me a viable alternative. If U are going to complain about the methods then give alternatives.

We use a lot of oil. The Middle eastern countries need to sell a lot of oil. They cannot cut us off, as we are great customers for them. It's supply/demand, with a little bit of free market sprinkled in.

See, we are interdependent. So, no matter what happens in Iraq or Iran, we're still going to be in the market to buy oil, and they will be in the market to sell it. How else are they going to build their gold palaces?rolling eyes

Such a simpleton attitude. It is U who is truly ignorant as to the realities of Ur choices. It is because of people like U that dictators are willing to do what they do knowing we will feel sorry for the people he murders everyday and we wont do anything about it. Our forigen policy may not suit U and It may not fit your needs personally but it does take care of society as a whole. Turn the place into glass and start over I say. Market forces rule right?

I guess 3,000+ dead Soldiers fits our society as a whole? Please. We support dictators when they do our bidding. Look at Musharraf in Pakistan. He is in power because of a military coup, not because he is champion of human rights.

"Turn the place into glass"? Wow, such insight. Way to cater to the lowest denominator, champ.

a phrase for start over - not litteral
as far as musharraf goes he doesnt dictate oil prices
and I am not a chump just a human being who is tired of all the crap and wish people that complained about what we are doing there would put as much effort into asking california for some of there oil instead of the fifth largest economy in the world sucking up the power. the power we generate in idaho goes to that free market U are tallking about so instead of my bill being $10 it is a $100. give me oil or give me a solution.peace

I never referred to you as a "chump."

I think you are missing the overall point of this conversation. Cheap energy is not a right. The same George Bush you applaud for "protecting" your freedoms is in bed with the oil companies that charge you too much at the pump. Life is not black and white, and to continue to live our lifestyle as are used to, we're gonna buy oil from OPEC. California cannot produce enough, nor can the oil shale in Alaska.

And Musharraf was not an example of oil prices, but of out penchant for propping up dictators that play ball with us.

Please do a little research before you post next time. Then you'd know about the oil in Alaska not being enough, and California using more energy than they can produce.....handshake

My eyes were tired and I caght that afterward, sorry. anyways california and alska are just a part of the problem. My point that I have been trying to make is that until we have an answer to our energy problems we should not be limiting eergy production in our own country.. We should drillour own oil then everywhere else to including utah, florida, the gulf etc until we find an alternative. we should be building refineries and nuclear power plants. this would end our complete dominance on foriegn supplies. But U will scream louder to stop the importation than U will for us to take care of ourselves with our own abundant resources. We can do it on our own if we would unite instead of just complain and not provide answers.sticking out tongue

We cannot produce enough oil to quench our thirst for energy, no matter where we drilll.

We can ease the pain until we come up with an alternative. Maybe then the market forces will not dictate that we have to protect such a volital source and we as a nation can afford more reasonable competition. Someone or something has to give and it can't always be me at the pump.
