The approaching New Year seems to bring about a time of reflection for many of us, especially those over 30. What's our bench mark, yard-stick, TV, commercials, Hollywood, the couple down the street ?

You can't count memories, they represent the past, vapor. You can't use the present, because it will change. The future is not here yet. So, where does that leave us ?
In a black hole that always was ???

The more you feed it the more it wil ask ..

Life is but a puzzle ... ermm.. ot many wake to the realisation that itis one. Some try to solve it all their life , many treat it like the wallet in their pocket and some just liv eit cos there is no better way to treat it !!

We come , we go without an inkling of effort on our own part but yet we strive to touch the skies and buy the silver sheen .

Simple it is for what its worth , theres nothing thats permanent not even our memories , definitely not the next door girl nor the green paper in our swiss accounts ... just to realise this one takes a life time or more that we run a chase which doesnt exist. Its what we perceive we are following .. " A Mirage "

I'm the happiest suicidal person that I know.
Now I know why we get along so well...

My New Year typically is reserved for quiet introspection.

Yesterday, my computer crashed, and I mean, REALLY crashed. Perpetual Blue Screen of Death. Would not operate in safe mode, would not run a CD, would not do anything. No restore points, no repair mode.

It took nearly all day of every trick I could think of, but, as you can see, I managed to revive it. Unfortunately, it required a wholesale lobotomy. My hobby for the day will be restoring nearly everything I once had. Software, drivers, bookmarks, etc.

Or not. On a positive note, it's operating better than ever.

So perhaps there is a parallel to life here. Maybe it is time to discard notions or thoughts I don't need in this New Year. Or something like that.

And no, I'm not suggesting I get a lobotomy. smoking

As I was growing up I was always assured of a News Years day meal of plain bean soup or potato soup,

When I finally asked "Why we had to eat that stuff?" .My dad explained, this is a poor mans meal. the least expensive meal a family can have. and by enjoying this meal on this day we are assured that the new year will bring about a better life... It seemed to work for my dad and I guess if its good enough of a ritual for him its damn good enough for me.
however i have changed/embellished the recipe on both soups thumbs up

Is it not true that most stand with one foot in yesterday and one foot in tomorrow and we piss all over today? That we have no cluse as to how to live in the present? Today is a gift, and that is why it is called the "present"...wink
