And if I remember, the Beatles did quite a few covers during their career. Nothing wrong with paying homage to your predecessors, but don't always look back. I mean, I saw people naming Rush and Cheap Trick as best albums of all time! Are you kidding me? Nirvana's "Nevermind" blows anything done in the 60s or 70s away, simply because they took what was good from that era, and built on it.

Ask the musicians of today dude...read interviews...listen to what the experts say!

P.S - If you discard the excellence of the 60's and 70's...you disregard an awful lot. My guess is you haven't listened to very much.

Phil, it's okay. Some people are close-minded when it comes to music. To each his own, it's cool.

I love all kinds of music..but early rock 'n' roll is where it really started to get exciting.

For me, it started with Elvis. Ask Robert Plant..he'll tell ya.

Actually. I think my LP collection would put most to shame. I am, NOT discounting the 60s and 70s at all, but I really wish we'd move on and stop propping up the same old tired bands, and give some of the more recent bands some props.

Ok, I'm off to listen to my Cream "Disraeli Gears" LP now...

Hell, i know it ain't all good from that era...and there's been some awesome stuff from the last 30 years...hell, I'll even admit to loving disco!

But, and I know I'm too serious about it sometimes, it's important to educate yourself...to seek out all you can...build up your appreciation for all the different styles.

I despise Country & Western...but I have some!

Why should we move on to newer music if we love what we love?

I don't understand your reasoning there.

And by the way, Cream is mainstream...there's much more exciting examples of the emerging 60's blues/rock scene for you to sample...if you wanna.
