The surfer has just been making a load of obnoxious comments since he appeared on the thread. Ignore them Riya, and thank you for your informative replies. It is clear we are not all the same and some of us are very sensitive to sound. I do not believe this is from Dyslexia or Attention Deficit Disorder, since Immanuel Kant, Goethe, Lichtenberg, Jean Paul and many other great thinkers/artists were so sensitive to sound they said it tormented them all their life and some even that it ‘tortured’ them.
It depends how deeply and intently you study and think about what you study, as far as I feel. The quieter, the better!!! Who would want to study in a noisy environment!?

Yeah, all that is true dude. The only real-life friend I have is a man who has tried to hang himself on more than one occasion, and has 60% auto-mutilation of the body like no one I have ever seen. And an IQ of 146. He is a self-learned philosopher, Historian, pessimist of the highest order, and a narcissist who makes me look like Jesus. And we get along very well.

I only relate to such people (er . . .person) . . . the kind the goody-goody, universal-love types despised for being born and picked on when they were kids because they wore glasses and were born with slight autism and an eye defect and were heavily opinionated ‘problem types’ and no one wanted to even talk to them and made them feel inhuman and an outcast.

Even after they were 20 years old!

Such a person meets a person like me and says: you are the greatest friend and the most understanding and kind person I have ever known. And that’s relativity!

Sometimes one despises those who despise!

very true ray, but one finds commonality and/or repulsiveness of only the 'self'.. your vision of others; its the "u appear to be like me" mirror affect. Strong leaders in negotiations use this, mirror affect, to affect outcomes of a negotiations.

you cannot in and of yourself truely know another persons experiences, feelings, trials and tribualtions, joys or successes and how THEY have been affected ... you can only perceive it in your mirrored soul, even if you could ride along in their life soul upon soul, their relativity is distant to yours.

A very odd phenoma of this mirroring is that we tend to dislike people whose dislikeable traights mirror our own. Its called "I hate me and you are the proof."

I have had and still do have the wonderful opportuntity of spending time with a downs syndrome person and true many shy away from him, many fear the unknown and worse what they perceive in the seemingly afflicted vision of their own soul.. very noisy in there.

You become admireable and you find admiration...
