Well in our state we have a new law that went into effect Jan 1st. No smoking in any public place and you have to be 15 ft away from any window or door also you can not smoke in a vechile with a child 12 or below or you can either get arrested or get ticket on these affences.

A couple of place raised there cigs to $9.00 a pack in support of this new law.

They complain about smoking bad for a persons health yes I agree to but thats our choose to kill our selves that way, just as it is someone elses choose to be overly fat, or to do drugs or to be an alcoholic, or you could be the type to think your trying to be healthy by taking all sorts of vitamins thats wrong to much of a good think can kill you too, anything and everything could harm or even kill a person. So I am a tad bit confused on why they only pin point one thing like smoking. Why not go after all the restaurants and fast food joints and close them down there making people fatter, why are there still liquor stores or bars - I know so you drink & drive which is illegal shhhhhhh I have done that one myself, I just don't get there way of thinking and it is complete hogwash that they say second hand smoke is what give non smokers cancer and with working in the medical field for 25 years I have seen several causes of non smokers that were not around smokers ever in there life and died of lung cancer so they can take that theory and throw it out the window as far as I am concerned.


Sorry just venting on this issue it does kind of getting under my skin

This is soooo ridiculous. I been smoking since I was 14, and I`m 60 now. I been an athlete all my life, a professional ballroom and latin dancer, a road-runner (got to 54km marathons), smoking all my life.....

.... Smokers should realise that they got to keep their lungs pumping...... to compensate, and sort of give them a cleanout....

I will say too, that buying loose shag and rolling your own is much "healthier" than store bought. If I smoke a store-bought cig, I can feel my lungs closing up. Try and find Air-Dried Tobacco, as opposed to flavoured and therefore Sugar-Dried.....its the sugar that messes you up, along with all the other additives for flavour in store-bought cigs.

Im with Muahhh on her story ...... seems like the powers- that- be are trying to shift focus to cigarette smokers to avoid other issues? If they paid as much attention to abused women, abused and neglected kids, the homeless, the aged, animal cruelty issues, etc... Life on Earth would indeed be Sweet!

They are passing these ridiculous laws in South Africa too ... No smoking in a house where children live. And they got hundreds of huge squatter settlements where people live in shacks built out of rusted tin and cardboard ... wherein live children starving to death, people dying of Aids, derelict aged folk, and hopeless alcoholics due to no employment ..... and a large majority drink metholated spirits to just get drunk and forget their problems, or sniff glue..........

...... And the Government is saying they not allowed to smoke in their shacks? ... But they got fires in their shacks to cook on .....? and for heating....? What the hell is going on...?

My mother smoked the entire time I was growing up and let's see (checking pulse).....yep I'm still alive.

That is right, non-smoker here. It makes no diff to me, but it is nice to come back from a club and not smell like an ashtray...

Here in So Cal, I am quite accustomed to going outside as it is. No biggie, I suppose, with the weather here. That, and I'm the polite type - I don't like smoking around those that don't anyway. It's my bad habit, never seen a need to inflict it upon others.
